State Chamber Update
With baby boomer retirements occurring every month, challenges abound for employers and good opportunities exist for employees. Here in Delaware, we have a very low unemployment rate, along with growing employee shortages in some sectors. Nationally, this trend is also upon us. In a story published this weekend by CNBC, author Jennifer Liu identifies different jobs where the needs are greatest. Some of these pay handsomely, while other opportunities do not. It’s an interesting read and many of these shortages are mirrored here in the First State. At the State Chamber, we are actively working on policies that will help train underemployed Delawareans in the hope of filling these gaps. Our first conversation on this topic will occur on October 8 at our Developing Delaware event - we hope to see you there.
