California's COVID-19 Surge Continues
We hope you enjoyed your holiday and followed safety guidelines from local, state and federal public health officials. We are still seeing the consequences of holiday gatherings in November- new cases are three times as high as a month ago and hospitalizations have increased 189% during that time. Please continue to stay home as much as possible and limit interactions with people outside of your household.

  • California is also averaging close to its highest death tolls of the pandemic with 10 COVID-19 related fatalities every hour.
  • In the Bay Area Region, 11.1% of staffed and licensed ICU beds were available. Governor Newsom may consider extending the region's stay at home order if numbers do not improve.
  • Across California, there were approximately 14.5% more COVID-positive patients than a week ago, compared to a 30% increase in the week prior.
  • Overall, an average of about 95 in every 100,000 Californians tested positive for COVID-19 each day over the past week, higher than any of the other 49 states.
  • To date, at least 19.1 million Americans have been infected with COVID-19 and more than 333,000 have perished from the virus.
