Call for Presentations: ACSA Distillers' Convention & Vendor Trade Show
We invite you to share your expertise with the craft spirits community at ACSA’s 6 th Annual Distillers’ Convention and Vendor Trade Show, February 10-12, 2019 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. If you’re interested in presenting, please submit your proposal no later than August 15 . ACSA prides itself on professional education providing the greatest possible learning experience for our industry. Each individual Call for Presentations will be personally vetted by the ACSA Education Committee.
New Riff to Host 'World's Biggest Bourbon Toast'
Northern Kentucky’s New Riff Distilling plans to host what it’s calling the “World’s Biggest Bourbon Toast” on July 31. The toast includes a preview of New Riff Bourbon—launching a day later—which embraces the ultimate quality standard: Bottled in Bond Without Chill Filtration, and celebrates the American whiskey heritage shared by Kentucky and Ohio. ACSA Partners with BevCon for 2 Members-Only Opportunities
As an ACSA member in good standing, you have the opportunity to save $100 on the registration fee for BevCon, which has quickly become one of the premier beverage industry events in the country. BevCon, scheduled for August 19-21 in Los Angeles, brings together all sectors of the spirits industry, including producers, bartenders, distributors, bar and restaurant owners and retailers. Additionally, if you own/operate/manage a DSP and are interested in showcasing your products at BevCon, there's space available for six ACSA member producers to pour at either an On-Site Tasting Bar or Meet-the-Makers exclusive event. If you'd like to participate, you must be able to attend or send a knowledgeable member of your team. You also must meet California state distribution requirements. Please e-mail margie@americancraftspirits.org with the subject line BEVCON no later than July 23 if you wish to participate. If more than six members express interest in pouring, we will conduct a lottery to determine the lineup.
Move Over Beer: Asheville, N.C. Enjoying a Craft Spirits Boom
For a while, Western North Carolina was known for one spirit, and one spirit only: moonshine. From the underground bootleg wares of Popcorn Sutton to the entirely legal and slickly branded Troy & Sons moonshine—so above-ground that it's sold at Disney Resorts—moonshine and Appalachia were practically synonymous. Now, there's a new wave of distillers in the region, paying homage to mountain culture and ingredients while joining the contemporary craft cocktail movement. (Citizen Times) 
Maryland's Blackwater Teams with Chesapeake Bay Environmental Center
Blackwater Distilling has partnered with the Chesapeake Bay Environmental Center in an effort to further programs that enhance education, sustainability and awareness of the Chesapeake Bay. The partnership launches as Blackwater Distilling unveils an Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign to boost funds associated with opening its new tavern that was announced this past spring. Indy's Hotel Tango Artisan Distillery Raises $2M for Expansion
Indianapolis-based Hotel Tango Artisan Distillery has beefed up its executive team and raised $2 million from private investors as part of a plan to expand distribution and marketing efforts. (Indianapolis Business Journal)
Hilton Head Distillery to Launch Education Experience
Hilton Head Distillery has announced plans to offer a more private experience to learn about the art of distilling. The distillery announced last week that it plans to build a room called The Bridge where visitors will learn "all there is to know about distilling and experience what it's like to 'take the helm' in a distillery," according to a Facebook post on the distillery’s page. D.C.'s Don Ciccio & Figli to Move to Larger Space
Six years after bringing an authentic taste of the Amalfi Coast to Washington, D.C., amaro maker Don Ciccio & Figli is moving into a bigger distillery space —complete with its own bar—to feed nationwide demand for its bittersweet and herbal liqueurs. (Eater DC)
San Francisco's Seven Stills Launches Novel Fundraising Campaign
Seven Stills Brewery & Distillery, the San Francisco producer of high-end craft beer and small-batch whiskey distilled from beer, announces today a first-of-its-kind "Initial Can Offering" fundraising campaign. (Business Insider)
