The LLCS Mother's Day luncheon was held on Saturday May 5 at the residence of Mr and Mrs George Chaghouri. This luncheon was underwritten by Mrs Dede Chaghouri, Mrs Gisele Chaghouri and Mrs Colette Hope. It was an elegant, yet very successful event. All the ladies enjoyed the nice ambiance and loved the delicious food, the wonderful desserts as well as the exotic coffee bar. Thank you so much!

Dear LLCS Ladies,
As we wind up this year I would like to thank all those who have opened up their hearts and worked so hard to make sure that the LLCS is able to fulfill its commitment to our students. You are too many to mention here, but your generosity of time, talent and treasure is exemplary.
Our Mother's Day luncheon was an amazing event and our three hosts Dede Chaghouri, Gisele Chaghouri and Colette Hope made sure that no detail was missed. The garden setting was beautiful, the food was bountiful and delicious, and every little extra was enjoyed by all (accordion musician, coffee bar and more). Thank you again and again Dede, Gisele and Colette.
The LLCS 2018-2019 Board was elected and installed, and two very special ladies were honored. Saada Abboud was awarded the President's Pin for her outstanding service to the LLCS, and Badiha Alwan was honored for her service and generosity to the LLCS for so many years. Hi everyone,
My name is Marwa Mikati, and I a proud recipient of the support of the Lebanese Ladies Cultural Society. I am a scientist, and I am currently doing cutting edge research to develop new drugs for malaria, a disease that kills half a million people each year. In May, I graduated with a degree in Neuroscience and Mathematics. Next year, I will begin working towards earning an MD/PhD dual degree. I am telling you this because I could not have been the person I am today had it not been for those who supported me.
I would like to tell you the story of when I first learned about being chosen to receive an LLCS scholarship. I remember I was twelve years old, and my administrator pulled me aside to tell me. I was so excited and surprised that this group of people all the way in California believed in my potential and my success. That was a key moment for someone growing up in Lebanon at that time. At every point in my journey, I had a group of people who believed in me. That is how I ended up earning myself a scholarship to attend Mount Holyoke College. I also recently learned that I was invited to become a member of the Board of Trustees of my alma mater. I have not disappointed anyone who has believed in me, and I continue to work hard so I make them proud. All of you here have an opportunity right now to change someone's life and contribute to their success. They will not disappoint you. You never know, the people you help today may also be standing in front of you in a few years. I assure you it will be worth it.
