Welcome to our newsletter.  Once a month we will update you with news about David Matero Architecture and our community. We welcome your comments, questions and feedback.
COVID 19

As the state is very slowly getting back to work, we have to believe that the measures we have all taken have reduced the potential Covid cases that otherwise might have happened. 

We are all looking forward to better days and hope that our family, friends, and neighbors can weather this storm and get back to work soon. In the meantime, we can still do our work at DMA remotely and safely.
Mid-Century Modern

Remoteness allows on-going construction of the Mid-Century Modern by Chapman Construction.   
Designed to compliment the main house, this understated cottage hugs the sloping grade and opens the living spaces to wide views of Cobbosseecontee Lake and t he blower door test came in at an impressive 0.67 ACH 50.
Georgetown Cape

Exterior siding is is complete (except for inside the screen porch), interior doors are being installed and final painting is happening at the Georgetown Cape. We love the different siding from front to the water-side of the house. Despite the size of the house due to the sloping site, the colors help fade the house into the landscape. Construction by Chartier Building and Remodeling.
New Hampshire

While work has slowed somewhat, planning continues. David recently received reciprocity from the state of New Hampshire to practice architecture. David is also a member of NCARB (National Council of Architectural Registration Boards), which helps to expedite the process of reciprocity between states. David is now registered in Maine, New Hampshire, and Massachusetts. His New York license is lapsed, not having worked there since 2001.
For the Winn

Construction slowed a little at For the Winn in West Bath, but it is picking up now. Cabinets have been installed on the interior, and exterior siding is complete. The views are wonderfully framed throughout many of the rooms on both floors. We are looking forward to the screen porch and roof deck under construction. Construction by Frohmiller Construction.

Waterledge

Waterledge in Harpswell is water-tight. The masonry chimney is complete, windows have been installed, and interior work is beginning. This new work was designed to relate to the existing cottage that stood here for many years. Although full of memories, the existing cottage was tired and in major need of upgrades. Construction by Oceanside Builders. 

Views from the Job Site

Since 2008 we've been climbing narrow stairs to our 4th floor studio on Front Street.  Here's a first look at our new studio space around the corner and still in historic downtown Bath (hoping it will be ready this June). The commute was really getting to David and me, instead of a 5 minute walk to work, our commute will be about 3 1/2 minutes and only one flight of stairs. More details to follow as this progresses. Construction by Frohmiller Construction.
