Scout News: SAFER AT HOME 11/28/2020
Dear Long Beach Scouting Family:

Yesterday, Los Angeles County issued a new “Safer at Home” order effective Monday, November 30. We expect the city of Long Beach to issue a similar order. Unfortunately, this means that units cannot meet in-person during this time. While we have been operating under Youth Sports Protocols, this most recent order prohibits meetings both indoors and outdoors regardless of size.

However, Scouting does not stop. Here are some ideas of what you CAN do:

While COVID-19 regulations have kept many of us apart, Scouting activities have remained strong. Since March of this year, we have offered monthly activities, summer camps, virtual classes, broadcasts from camp, kayaking on the water, family activity days, bike rides, dozens of merit badges, and several online updates and trainings for Scout leaders.

Scouting activities in Long Beach will continue. Make no mistake, the mental and physical well-being of our Scouts are our top priority. For that reason, we are actively planning dozens of programs now for 2021. Just last week, our program committee met to outline a workable, realistic, and fun event calendar for you and your family.

Keep an eye out on our Facebook page and our weekly Thursday email for updates and the latest news. For now, in-person meetings are postponed, but as a family you can still be active, you can still meet virtually, and your Scout can still earn advancements. We appreciate you and we will be in touch soon.

Yours in Scouting,
