CMS Maintains Continuous Enrollment
for Cal MediConnect Beneficiaries
The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) approved DHCS' request to waive the new Medicare enrollment regulations that would limit continuous enrollment. Dual eligible beneficiaries enrolling into, switching among, or disenrolling from Cal MediConnect plans will continue to be able to make plan changes on a monthly basis in CCI counties. The California Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) has submitted a request to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) to extend the Coordinated Care Initiative (CCI) and Cal MediConnect program by one year. If the request is approved, the program will extend through the 2020 plan year. The purpose of this extension is to align CCI and Cal MediConnect with other Medicaid Section 1115 waiver programs, which are authorized through December 2020.  Click here to read the letter.
