Our Partner in Guatemala

Thank you for being part of Tree 4 Hope's work in Guatemala. Because of the COVID19 quarantine, we have had to make temporary changes to our program. Because of the travel restrictions, health concerns and so many uncertainties, our Board of Directors has voted to cancel our summer 2020 team trips.

We are currently distributing food staples (beans, corn flour, rice, instant soups, and fortified drink mix) to the families in the village near the orphanage for them to cook at home. There is less access to food because the public buses are not running, many people are not working, and there is limited access to food and buying restrictions. Tree 4 Hope has provided two emergency food distributions to about 85 families in the village of Aguacate over the last month, and we would like to continue providing vital nutrition every two weeks until things normalize. We have also provided additional emergency supplies of food staples to the orphanage because of their challenges with government-imposed buying limits.

Thank you for your support of our work in Guatemala. Now, more than ever, your donations are providing vital nutrition to people who are struggling and hungry.

We at Tree 4 Hope send our best wishes to you and your families and we hope you are well.

During the month of May, Parkway is encouraging your donations for our mission partner, Tree 4 Hope. Our Mission Teams have taken underwear, socks, and shoes to the children in the past. The Teams have also purchased needed materials when they were on the ground. This year, we want to continue our support for the orphanage, Hope Academy, and the Tree 4 Hope food distributions. Please mark any donations "Guatemala," and we will forward the funds to Tree 4 Hope.

Ongoing Mission Programs of the Church:  Support Our Community
Parkway's 2020 pledge campaign included a commitment to spend 12% of our income to support our community - whether in Corpus Christi, the USA or the world. Session recently approved the distribution of these gifts and we are happy to announce that checks were sent to the various recipients in late April!

Stay Tuned - Technical Difficulties

Just a word about the sound production for our ZOOM Sundays - We have not figured out how to reproduce music very well.  We have purchased a special microphone,  changed pianos, changed locations, created CD's and tried different settings on the software.  We will continue our efforts and ask your patience.

A message from Presbyterian Children's Homes and Services (PCHAS)

Thank you for watching our first-ever virtual luncheon on the 29th. If you missed it, or you'd like to share it with someone else, you can find the full recording  here . The inspiring testimonials from clients themselves start at the six-minute mark.

PCHAS always welcomes your support. Your gift at pchas.org/get-involved/give
will be used to achieve PCHAS' over-arching goals: permanent homes for children and self-sufficiency for families.

Immediate gifts and multi-year commitments will enable PCHAS to help families overcome challenges such as poverty, unemployment, addictions and the hardships of the COVID-19 pandemic. By the way, because we could not hold three of our fundraisers in person, we didn't have costs of caterers, so all donations go directly into programs for our clients.

If you made a gift, we sincerely thank you for your support which enables all of the children and families we serve to embrace a hope-filled future!

P.S. We are able to process donations online, by phone and by mail. Our contact information is pchas.org/get-involved/give.

El Divino's Clothes Closet
Please continue to save any clothes or shoes you are getting rid of for the clients of El Divino's Clothes Closet. Hopefully, the congregation of El Divino will be able to open the Clothes Closet soon.

Sunday Worship Online
As we continue to navigate these days, Parkway will
have online worship every week at 11:00 AM online using Facebook. Just follow this link and tune in with us at 11:00 AM or watch the recording later. If you have trouble finding the livestream once you get to the Facebook page, try refreshing your page or restarting your app. Also, online giving is available for pledge-giving, non-pledge giving, and other special funds.  Online giving is found here. We are looking forward to worshiping as the gathered community even as we stay home. Look forward to seeing you online!

Church Office Hours
During this time when most of the church activities are suspended, the church building will be locked but Cheryl and Ben will be here working. Allen and Laura will be working from home per "The President's Corona Virus Guidelines." Allen and Laura can be reached by calling the church office and having Cheryl transfer the call to the appropriate person. The office will be open regular hours, Monday through Thursday from 9:00-1:00 and Friday from 9:00-12:00.

Giving Online or Text To Give
To give online go to  https://onrealm.org/parkwaypc/-/give/ppc  select the fund FoodBasket, Pledge, Flowers, etc. then fill out the information as prompted. This is an easy way to give. If you feel you have entered something erroneously Sue can change or delete the entry for you.

The other option is to Text to Give. Once you text Parkwaypc to 73256 and hit the send button you will be sent a link. Click it and then you will be prompted to enter information such as fund and amount, along with credit/debit card information. This is super easy to do.
