I want to take a moment to thank Nathan for launching our Advent Series, sharing about what it means for heaven to come to earth. He did an exceptional job! I think if I could tell you one thing at Christmas time that I want more than anything, it is for people to finally “get it.” “It” being the reason we live, celebrate Christmas, have hope, exchange love, I just want people to get it. I think this is how many Pastors feel at Christmas. We want Jesus to be the centerpiece of all we do. People all over Christendom are nodding their heads in agreement, but then they live and act like they didn’t hear a word you said, they simply don’t get it. Sunday we will look at an Old Testament picture that foreshadows a New Testament point. The question for us Sunday is to decide, and maybe declare, what sustains us in this life? What does it mean to have the Bread of Life before us? I think it’s a bad time to decide to be spiritually gluten free. I think that we have to be careful…in the coming weeks we will receive many gifts and things that we desire. Many of us will still feel empty and that is because it really does matter what sustains you.

I wanted to personally thank the entire church for the way we collectively fed our community during this pandemic. We exceeded last year’s numbers and combined with First Baptist Merritt Island will have fed more than 2000 households by the end of the year. I also want to publicly thank Steve Young and his team at House of Hope that makes all this possible. For without their sacrifice and commitment, our generosity would not have a home. May they be in our prayers as they are the hands and feet of Jesus in our community.
