A Word from Craig Muffley, Team Leader:
On behalf of our 12-member district mission team, I would like to thank everyone who supported our trip to El Salvador
with your prayers and your donations of supplies and money. Spanish language UM hymnals and bibles, school supplies, toothbrushes, and basic medicines/vitamins were the main things that were donated. Our primary mission activity was food distribution. On the night of our arrival, we put together 100 bags of food that contained many staples of a typical Salvadoran diet. Each bag weighed about 20 pounds. Over the next two days, we visited about 40 homes and delivered 85 bags of food to families in the poorest neighborhoods of Ahuachapan. Of course, we spent time talking with the families we met and prayed for them and the specific needs they shared. Many of the families also prayed for us and our work.
We were able to enjoy an “off” day on Thursday as we visited a Mayan ruins site and a mountain top coffee plantation/restaurant. We ate lunch there and then moved on to enjoy some leisure time in the beautiful town of Concepcion de Ataco. Despite the shortness of the 3 ½ day trip (excluding travel), relationships with the people of our district mission partner, the Evangelical Methodist Church of El Salvador, were renewed, enhanced, and enjoyed. A long, but safe, travel day home on Friday concluded our wonderful, incident-free trip. Praise God! Thank you again for your support.
If you are interested in leading next year’s team or participating as a team member, please contact me for info/assistance.
