AB 2325 E-Path Reporting

As you are aware, AB 2325 was passed September 2016 and requires all California pathologists to electronically report cancer cases to the CCR by January 1, 2019. This includes all pathology labs including those housed in hospitals.  This is separate and independent from the cancer reporting requirement for hospitals to submit full abstracts to their regional registry.

The pathologist will only be reporting the pathology report, while the facility is able to also provide clinical information, such as results of history and physical exam, scans or other tests to show extent of disease, as well as any treatment provided to the patient. In addition, the pathologist will be reporting in near real-time which can help with recruiting patients to clinical trials.

All pathologists and pathology labs must register on the E-Path portal. (See link below.) This includes those that currently report via AIM or the College of American Pathologists (CAP) eCC (electronic cancer checklist).

Here is a link to the CCR E-Path website that includes FAQ's (Frequently Asked Questions), the Implementation Guide, and the link to the Registration Portal for E-Path.
