Dear Hospice Vaughan Friends,
I hope this message finds you and your loved ones safe and well. 2020 has certainly been a challenging year and we are grateful to our community of volunteers, donors, and supporters for coming together to support the essential work we do. You have been, and continue to be the heart of hospice, and we cannot do our work without you.
From the beginning of the pandemic, Hospice Vaughan has maintained one priority – to keep delivering safe and specialized compassionate care to our clients and their loves ones. Adapting quickly, we modified existing programs and developed new ways to meet the increasing needs in our community. Many have coped with COVID, illness, isolation and loss on many different fronts. We understand at Hospice Vaughan, after 25 years of serving our community, that we can survive hard times and adversity if we continue to learn and grow our resiliency together. And that is what we have continued to do.
Our dedicated team of staff, volunteers and community partners worked hard to ensure needs were met in a timely fashion, and the organization continued forward with our vision to open a new health care facility. I am truly proud that we were able to remain focused through this year and provide sustained support to our community.
Early in 2021 Hospice Vaughan will open the new Mario and Nick Cortellucci Hospice Palliative Care Centre of Excellence. This will include Vaughan’s first 10 Bed Palliative Care Hospice Residence – a program that will fill significant health gaps in our community. This milestone was made possible by the community, for the community, and close to home for individuals, caregivers and families.
