Cornwall Library Newsletter January 2021
I just asked an employee what I should write about for this newsletter. Several were in earshot. One piped up that the winter solstice just passed, and we can begin to look forward to brighter longer days. Someone else said that her Uncle took the most amazing photograph of the moon, and two bright stars over the trestle, while a train was passing by. The stars are bright and clear, yet the train is a silver blur. Another one said to write about listening to happy music and looking for bright bits in each day. I went and got my phone to show the photo my husband took with a new camera the other night. It's of the moon. The picture is so clear you can see the craters on the moon's surface.

Anyway, all this got me thinking. We have been buried under the grey skies of 2020. Instead of agonizing over what isn't happening yet, what we aren't allowed to do yet, where we can't go yet, let's all look for one bright thing in our day, one thing we are grateful for, and one thing that makes us feel happy, even if it is only for a fleeting moment. Looking for these things can make us more aware of being. We can begin to realize that we don't have it so bad. That there is light, music, and laughter around.

The library can help! We have DVDs that are comedies, we have books that are enlightening, we have music that will make you want to dance and sing. If you can't find what you are looking for in our catalog, call us. We are all more than happy to help you find things.

Let's all make life a little lighter, a little happier, and a little brighter.

If that's all too sappy for you, let me know...I'll dig out one of my Dad's sermons (just kidding)!
