ADDITIONAL CHINA TARIFFS TO BE IMPLEMENTED

China has announced additional tariffs on 545 products exported to China from the United States. Read the memo from APG's federal lobbyist regarding China's latest retaliatory tariffs on U.S. products here, and the USDA GAIN report here. The USDA GAIN report details the additional tariffs, including the tariffs on U.S. pistachios (kernels and in-shell). The proposed tariffs will be imposed on July 6.

APG continues to communicate with Congress, the Administration and the United States Trade Representative's office regarding this issue.

Kings and Tulare Counties are hosting their annual Nut Harvest Workers Safety training on Wednesday, July 11 at the Kings County Fairgrounds in Hanford, from 8 am to 12 pm. Classes will be held in English and Spanish; lunch will be provided. Support for this event is provided by American Pistachio Growers, the Kings and Tulare County Farm Bureaus and the University of California Agriculture and Natural Resources. APG sponsored the Nutrition in Injury Prevention and Recovery Session, presented by the Collegiate and Professional Sports Dietitians Association (CPSDA) at the American Society of Nutrition's (ASN) Nutrition 2018 Conference in Boston, June 8-12. Two studies APG funded with the USDA were on display. The studies' researchers, Dr. France Bellisle and Dr. Zhaoping Li, presented the findings.

Coffee with America Morning Show
In the U.S., American pistachios were featured on a nationally syndicated morning show, Coffee with America, with lifestyle consumer trends expert Merilee Kern. The segment's focus was "Lifestyle Enhancers." Merilee spoke about pistachios as the ideal healthy snack for mid-morning and mid-afternoon snacks, while at work. The segment was broadcasted on 940 television stations, from March 10-26, 2018. More than 2.5 million consumers viewed the segment.

APG Sample Packs refueled cyclists at two German Cycling Camps: the Women's Cycling Camp in Allgäu, Germany from May 24-27, and the Women's Bike Camp in the Reschenpass which crosses in the country triangle of Switzerland, Austria and Italy, June 14-17.
 
 
 
 
Trends Health Online Magazine #HappyFutureMommy Social Media Promotion
From March 23 to April 24, Trends Health online magazine invited mothers-to-be to share photos of them and pistachios or their favorite pistachio recipes on Trends Health Weibo page. The promotion generated over 13.4 million impressions and 27,000 comments. #HappyFutureMommy became the fifth most popular hourly topic on Weibo on March 24.
 
 
 
Popular Websites Host Expecting Mothers Promotion
From April through May, five of China's leading websites for expecting moms featured a microsite (web page) dedicated to American pistachios. Each site included articles and short videos about pistachio nutrition for expecting moms. Also included were banners and advertisements promoting the health benefits of American pistachios. The promotion reached over 25 million expecting moms.
