A sincere "thank you" to all the families who have been cooperative in helping us keep the SJS school community healthy and still "in-person". As the number of cases continue to rise, we ask that you please read below an updated version of the SJS requirements for after travel/social gatherings for your information and planning purposes.
The safest thing for students/staff to do after domestic travel is to stay home for 7 days with a negative test and return to school on day 8 OR stay home for 10 days without a test and return to school on day 11.
SJS REQUIREMENT AFTER DOMESTIC TRAVEL AND SOCIAL GATHERINGS: After domestic travel, consider getting tested 3-5 days after travel and reduce non-essential activities for 7 days even if you test negative; return to school on day 8. If you choose not to get tested, the safest thing to do is to stay home for 10 days after returning from your trip; return to school on day 11.
SJS REQUIREMENT AFTER INTERNATIONAL TRAVEL: It is recommended that after international travel, that you get tested with PCR or antigen test (SJS prefers PCR test if possible) 3-5 days after international travel. At this time, SJS requires 14 days of quarantine after returning from international travel. Those who travelled internationally should not be in school after returning from their travel without completing 14 days of quarantine.
SOCIAL GATHERINGS: are events where large groups of people congregate and mingle making it difficult to maintain social distancing, in some of these groups mitigation plans are not properly observed such as the wearing of masks and mixing with people outside your usual cohorts for 15 minutes or greater.
Some of those activities include: weddings, funerals, theme parks/resorts, sporting events, concerts/parades/rallies, sleep overs. While this is not an exhaustive list, and while we cannot tell you what to do as a family or not do; we ask that as you plan and make decisions to take the above information into consideration; keeping the health and wellbeing of your child's classmates/families, teachers and staff in mind.
While there are no guarantees, God is in control but we have to do our part. If we continue to work together we will continue to succeed.
***Send us (classroom teacher, nurse, Ms. Pearce and Ms. Rutledge) an email to notify us after your trip/gathering for distance learning approval.
Please remember that you have to be fever free, symptom free for 24 hours without any over the counter medication prior to returning to school.
