Letters to the Editor
Dear Editor: You must think I dropped off the map. I have selfishly enjoyed your hard work without even a compliment or thank you email recently. This blast is my Monday "Calgon moment." (Wow. Did I just date myself? :-)
I can escape and relax by enjoying the beautiful action-packed photos and improving my sports knowledge and once finished, return to the fish world, although these days it is more administrative.
I am in shock that tomorrow is July 4th and I hope your family and you are going to have a wonderful celebration! We are having friends over for a tradition of hot dogs, watermelon, and fireworks time.
Thank you and your wonderful family and staff for the gift of the newsletters and outstanding magazine. You definitely brighten my life.

San Francisco Giants 2 v. Saint Louis Cardinals 3
As if in a perfectly choreographed ballet, Brandon Belt and a Cardinals base runner move off first base as Giants pitcher Jeff Samardzija faces another batter. Belt is among a small number of players still eligible to make the All-Star game. With balloting ending on Wednesday at 1 p.m.
|
Giants third baseman Pablo Sandoval had an unproductive day on Saturday against the Saint Louis Cardinals, going 0 for 4 at the plate in the 3-2 defeat. But Pablo's fortunes changed a day later, on Sunday, when he went 3 for 5 with a home run and five RBIs in the Giants 13-8 victory.

Oakland A's 4 v. San Diego Padres 2
|
San Francisco 49ers
Charles Robinson, Yahoo Sports / Jul 2, 2018: The NFL is attempting to force Colin Kaepernick's collusion case against the league to a close, sources familiar with the proceedings have told Yahoo Sports. Citing a subsection of Article 17 -- the portion of the collective-bargaining agreement that deals with collusion cases -- the NFL has requested that arbitrator Stephen Burbank provide a summary judgment in the case, sources said. The request puts the future of the case in the hands of Burbank, who now must determine whether Kaepernick's legal team has uncovered sufficient evidence to continue the quarterback's action against the league. If Burbank rules Kaepernick's attorneys have found evidence to move toward a hearing, the case will continue, possibly with additional depositions. If he finds that the current discovery evidence is insufficient to advance, he can dismiss the case in favor of the NFL.

Sports Bar Review
44 Restaurant, Bar & Lounge in Berkeley
I am excited to contribute to The Ultimate Sports Guide. I am a long time Bay Area operator of restaurants and entertainment venues and now have begun a journey to find the best places in the Bay Area to watch sports, eat, drink and enjoy.
I have begun my search with 44 Restaurant Bar & Lounge located at 3290 Adeline Street in Berkeley. Wow. It's exactly what the name invokes. A beautiful venue with high ceilings, an open kitchen, couches to lounge on and a wonderful bar with several big screens showing sports. The staff and manager were friendly and engaging, answering all my questions and made me feel right at home.

44 offers a Happy Hour menu with options of wings, sliders, fries, and even their Signature Gumbo. In addition, they offer a wide variety of cocktails and beer and wine at very reasonable prices. Their full menu, featuring Southern-inspired American food, is always available and is presented as a lap top with an illuminated fold-out presentation which is wonderfully clear and concise.
My friend and I ordered the house Draft Beer and several items from both menus. The beer was cold and tasty, all of the food arrived quickly, was nicely presented and hot and delicious. Our favorite was the Catfish Nuggets with Chipotle Aioli, perfect with beer
44 impressed me both as a patron and a professional in the industry. They do exactly what you want; they give you an excellent customer experience in a clean, comfortable environment with great service, good food and drink, and of course, Sports.
