The mission of Corpus Christi Catholic School is to nurture every child by providing the opportunities to grow in faith, achieve academic success, and serve others as disciples of Jesus

Dear Parents,
As we enter this Advent Season, let us remember that Advent is a time of expectant waiting, hopeful anticipation, and cheerful preparation. During this time of waiting, we have much to do! While there are presents to buy and decorations to hang, there are even more important things to focus on. During this busy time of the year, may we remember to put our focus on the birth of Jesus and prepare our hearts for this wonderful gift of Christmas.
|
|
Our Bible verse focus for the month of December is John 13:35
“By this, all men will know that you are my disciples if you love one another.”
The prayer we will focus on is the Glory Be.

#iGiveCatholic - TOMORROW!
|
|
Corpus Christi Catholic School along with the Archdiocese of Mobile have joined with arch/dioceses throughout the country to participate in #iGiveCatholic Giving Day. We will celebrate this day of Catholic giving TOMORROW, December 1, also known as #GivingTuesday, a global day of giving fueled by the power of social media and collaboration. Celebrated on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving, #GivingTuesday is a day when individuals around the world come together with the goal to celebrate generosity and to give to their charities of choice. We look forward to this fundraising opportunity.
The money raised during the #iGiveCatholic campaign will be used to support the school’s annual fund and facility maintenance, including adding a sidewalk railing on the far side of the playground by the middle school classrooms. Additionally, a new floor is needed in the cougar den.
Advanced giving is happening NOW, and it can be done by cash or check. Contact Stephanie Gillis at sgillis@CCSCatholic.com for more information.

As a precaution, our students will return from the Christmas holidays to a week of virtual school from January 4-8. In the coming weeks, you will get more information from the school and your child’s teacher as to the expectations for that week. Our students will return to classroom instruction on Monday, January 11, 2021.
Originally, we were scheduled to have a faculty retreat day on January 4 and school would resume on January 5. However, with the switch to virtual learning, our retreat day had to be postponed. As a result, our new calendar dates have the students returning to virtual school on January 4, and our faculty retreat has been rescheduled for Thursday, April 1. (This will be a day out of school for students.) Please mark your calendars with this changes.

We will support the Blessings in a Backpack Ministry on Friday as we always do the first Friday of the month. Students who bring an item for the food pantry may come out of uniform with their spirit shirts. (Middle School will be OOU on Monday)
The following items are requested:

3-5: Instant Oatmeal and Grits
6-8: Cereal

We will have an out of uniform blackout for Melanoma Day on Tuesday, December 15. Funds from the t-shirt sale that previously took place will directly benefit one of our own families - the family of Leigh Ankerson Bailey. Her son, Noah, is a 6th-grade student at Corpus Christi. Sadly, Leigh passed away on November 20 after her battle with Metastatic Melanoma. If students were not able to purchase a t-shirt, they may wear any black shirt. 8th-grader, Emily Gillis, has organized a hot chocolate and cookie sale to take place on this day that will also benefit the Bailey Family.
The form to order hot chocolate and a cookie is below. The deadline to return the form is Friday, December 11th.

Our first box tops contest ended 10/23/2020. Thank you to everyone who clipped and submitted as well as scanned receipts for the app. Without you we would not be able to continue to earn free money for our school.
We had a total of 289 printed unexpired box tops submitted and we have $101.10 on the box tops app. Our total for the 1st contest was $130.
A huge CONGRATULATIONS to Mrs. Thompson’s class who won the contest for class with most submission. Her class submitted 112 box tops which totals almost half of all the box tops submitted! As the winning class they will get to celebrate with an out of uniform day. Mrs. Martin will announce the out of uniform date.
Congratulations to MacLynn DeLong for winning a gift card to Kraze. She was the winner of the drawing for individual submissions.
AWESOME JOB!
THANK YOU to EVERYONE who turned in Box Tops!
One dime at a time in two months really added up.
Now it is time to kick off the next collection contest.
Keep clipping those Box Tops and scanning those receipts. The next contest ends January 15, 2021.
Don’t forget to put a student name on the bag to ensure credit for the contest!

Thank you Knights of Columbus!
|
|
The Knights of Columbus from our parish recently presented gift cards to classroom teachers in grades K-8. These funds will be used to purchase items for academic use within their classrooms. The teachers were so excited to receive their gift cards! Chad Pugh and Scott Hetrick from the KOC delivered the gift cards to teachers. We are thankful for their generosity!
