Scouting for Food
Saturday, December 5th, 7:30 PM
Scouting for Food is BSA’s annual food drive. As a District, we coordinate this large effort, however, your Unit may choose to participate more often. All bags must be picked up on Saturday, December 5th after 9:00am. Collected items may be delivered between 9am-4pm to a new location, 128 Bauer Dr, Oakland. The Center for Food Action will pick up the food and distribute it to needy families in our area. All Units are welcome to help sort and repack food at the warehouse that day.
Scout Ski Days
Save the Date
Scout Ski Days this year will either by Saturday, February 20, or Sunday, February 21. We are working with Belleayre Mountain to secure a date for our group. We will keep everyone posted and hope to see you on the slopes.
Summer Camp and Event Registration

Starting in January we will have registration open for our Spring events and our 5 Summer Camps. Check the calendar on our website for the latest events and activities.
The Peace Light Returns
For the past 30 years, a child from Austria lights two lamps from the fire of the grotto in Bethlehem where Jesus was born.

It then travels to Vienna and most of Europe by Christmas. Unfortunately, due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic the organizers of the Peace Light have made the difficult decision to not have the Peace Light flown across the Atlantic to New York City this year.

However, the Peace Light from 2019 will be making it's way to our Council Service Center. We have a candle that is still lit from last years Peace Light.
Happy Chanukah!

The Jewish Committee on Scouting wishes all Jewish Scouts and Scouters in Northern New Jersey Council and their families a safe and Happy Chanukah.

Anyone interested additional information about the Jewish religious emblem program or other Jewish scouting activities see www.jewishscouting.org or email Craig Fenster craig@nychronicle.com."
Silver Beaver Nominations
Of the hundreds of awards that are presented each year, the Silver Beaver is the highest and most prestigious honor awarded to a volunteer by a local council. The Boy Scouts of America recognizes the need to acknowledge those individuals who truly go above and beyond to guarantee the availability of a quality Scouting program.

Please consider nominating a dedicated Scouter that has influenced the program of Scouting in your area for this award. Applications are due by Jan 31, 2021.
STAY INFORMED
COVID-19 Prevention Tips

  • Practice prevention efforts – always stay farther than 6 feet from others. Tip: If you must be closer than 6 feet, limit your time to less than 15 minutes, and wear a face covering.

  • Continue virtual meetings if you cannot spread out more than 6 feet apart either outside or in a well-ventilated area.

  • Use larger conference facilities for face-to-face meetings instead of the more confined space of offices.

  • If you are sick, isolate yourself. Those “allergy” symptoms and that fever may be indicators you should isolate.
