Dec. 16, 2020
Thank You
Dear Educators,

This has been a year unlike any other -- and through it all, we've seen our educators step up like never before. Thank you. Thank you for your flexibility, understanding, compassion and care you've shown this year, and thank you for continuing to be there for our kids.

We hope you can take time over break to do what makes you most happy and get some well-deserved rest.

Many thanks,
Tamara and Mike
This Week's Top 5 Things to Know
Apply to the Senior/Team Lead Pool
Are you interested in becoming a Senior/Team Lead in 2021-22? Apply to the Senior/Team Lead (S/TL) Pool to enter the pool of interested candidates that principals across the district may access as they search for strong fits for their S/TL openings. S/TLs spend part of the day providing high-quality instruction in their own classroom as a teacher, and part of the day developing the ability for a team of teachers to deliver rigorous, culturally responsive instruction that leads to high academic achievement. Apply for the Teacher Leader Advisory Council
We are looking for Senior/Team Leads, Regional Team Specialists, Team Specialists and New Teacher Ambassadors who are interested in sharing their perspective with senior leaders and central support staff. The Teacher Leader Advisory Council will meet monthly between January and May to gather feedback, ideas and input on the decisions and planning that affect students, teachers and teacher leaders. Learn more about this opportunity here. Participants will need to commit two hours a month and will receive extra duty pay.
Apply for Whole Child "Distinguished" Status to Earn $750 Incentive
The ProComp agreement incentivizes schools for reaching "Distinguished" status for supports to achieve DPS' goal of supporting the Whole Child, and honors schools demonstrating outstanding work. Ten schools are awarded Whole Child "Distinguished" school status and are eligible to receive the award once every three years. Employees actively assigned to the school, including non-DCTA, receive a $750 non-base-building incentive, prorated by FTE. Minimum 0.2 FTE is required to qualify. We are developing an online application, which will be available in February. Take advantage of this opportunity to showcase your school’s important work. Find additional information and prepare for your application here. For questions, please email compensation@dpsk12.org.
LEAP and SSP Mid-Year Conversation Update
The LEAP mid-year conversation window runs Dec 11-Feb. 26. Currently, both leaders and teachers can share and finalize Professionalism scores and comments as well as Reflections in the LEAP Application Tool (LAT). As this year is unlike all others, we have put together a one-page guide for Teachers and SSPs. If you have any questions or concerns, please email leap@dpsk12.org.
Enhanced Google Meet Capabilities Available to Schools for Free
Google is now offering enhanced features such as breakout rooms and increased participant capacity in Meets through its Enterprise version. With increased demand for Google Enterprise and these features, we have been able to negotiate pricing to get Google Enterprise for all teachers and school leaders districtwide, at no cost to school budgets. (If you previously requested Enterprise and anticipated paying, it is now free.) Look for this new access automatically for all teacher and school leader Google accounts after winter break. Please reach out to your Digital/Regional Coach for support with Enterprise features.
