Center Stage Series Performance
|
Evolution
is a “lyrical and imaginative” (The Associated Press) one woman show depicting three members of a family dealing with their youngest daughter’s mental illness.
Evolution
challenges our assumptions about progress and change in ways that are both “hilarious and haunting’ (Backstage).
The performance will be in the Center for Faith and Life, Main Hall on Saturday, April 6 at 7:30 p.m.

Dr. Jenifer K. Ward
, provost and dean of the college for Centenary College of Louisiana in Shreveport, Louisiana, has been unanimously elected Luther College’s 11th president, announced by Luther’s Board of Regents.
In addition to her duties as provost and dean of the college, Ward served as professor of modern language and culture, and as the Caroline and Ed Crawford Eminent Scholars Chair of Liberal Arts at Centenary, the only tier-one national liberal arts college in Louisiana.

Luther presents an Interfaith Forum
(April 4-6), where international scholars, practitioners of interfaith collaboration and faith leaders of the Midwest gather to help engage the campus in an assembly about the challenges of interfaith existence and collaboration. Intended to foster conversations and promote interfaith collaborations, Luther's Interfaith Forum will include a collection of discussions, workshops, panels and classes.
Registration
for the event is $20. The deadline for registration is April 4.
Luther College
students enrolled in this spring semester's chamber ensembles course are performing a recital at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 4, in the Noble Recital Hall, Jenson-Noble Hall of Music. Student ensembles include the Kakistocracy Saxophone Quartet, the Noble Brass Quintet, the Gale Norse Winds Woodwind Quintet, and the Quartetduo Trio (Piano, Flute and Cello).
SPIN Theater
presents a collection of one-act performances varying in genre, directed and produced by students of all years. Of the five productions, "The Giver," "The Man Who Couldn't Dance," "The Summer People" and "The Last Cyclist" will have two performances. The first show begins at 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 5, and the other showing of these productions begins at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, April 7. The fifth production, "Matchgirl," will take place once at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, April 6. All of the performances will take place in the Jewel Theatre of the Center for the Arts.

The Paideia Endowment Governing Board invites members of the Luther community to propose presentations on the theme “Resistance and Resilience” for the 2019-2020 Texts and Issues
Lecture Series. Participants are encouraged to address the theme from the perspective of a wide variety of texts drawn from the arts, sciences, and humanities. If interested, please

Luther College will host two geologists
from the Iowa Geological Survey as they give a lecture at 9:40-10:50 a.m. Thursday, April 4, in Valders Hall of Science, Room 206. Geologist H. Paul Liu from the Iowa Geological Survey and retired geologist Robert McKay will come to Luther's campus to discuss the discovery of the Decorah impact crater and the unique fossils that were preserved in the basin of the crater, including Pentecopterus decorahensis, a newly discovered ancient 'sea scorpion.'
Investigating the dynamic tension
in our relationships, Luther College Professor Emeritus of Alan Lerstrom will present the lecture, "Relational Dialectics" at Luther's Emeriti Colloquium at 3 p.m. Thursday, April 11, in the Mott Room of the Dahl Centennial Union.
