What's NEW!
Congratulations to Jacqueline Engelbert!
Diocesan Society of St. Simeon and St. Anna's Class of 2019

Named after Simeon and Anna, witnesses to the Presentation of the infant Jesus in the Temple in Jerusalem, the Society is sponsored by the Committee on Affirmative Aging in the Diocese of Southern Ohio, and recognizes, honors and celebrates exemplary Christian ministry and service by those aged sixty and above. Jackie was selected for this honor in recognition of her ministry at Christ Church Glendale, Bethany School, the Convent of the Transfiguration Sisters, and in many other settings and groups. She joins Don Welti, and Carlos and Glenda DeJesύs, who are already members of the Society, and who attend CCG.

Jackie will be inducted into the Society at its Annual Meeting on Wednesday, May 1 at the Procter Center. The induction Eucharist will be celebrated by Bishop Breidenthal at 11:00, and a lunch will follow immediately afterward. All members and friends of the diocese are invited to attend.

If you would like to attend, please let Fr. David know so that attendance numbers for lunch can be communicated to the Procter Center. Several cars will leave CCG at 9:30 that day to make the trip; if you would like to ride, please let him know as well.
The Rev. Maggie Foote ‘coming home’ to CCG on Sunday, April 28

Next Sunday, April 28, the Reverend Maggie (Foster) Foote will be our guest at Christ Church Glendale. Actually, as a daughter of the parish she is not really a guest at all, so perhaps we should say she will have a homecoming.

Maggie serves as Pastor at Iglesia Episcopal del Espíritu Santo in Forest Park, a worshipping community in formation, and an outgrowth of the Latino Ministry Center. In addition, she chairs the Commission on Latino Ministry in the Diocese of Southern Ohio. Maggie will preach at all three services, and celebrate at 9:00. At 10:00, she will lead the Adult Forum in a presentation about ministry with the Latino community downstairs in the Adam and Eve class room. Sponsored by the Outreach Commission, you won’t want to miss this opportunity to hear about important and exciting work that is happening in this vital area. Please help us welcome Maggie home!
Outreach Commission: Learning About Your Neighbor During the Easter Season

Just as the Outreach Commission sponsored several "love your neighbor" opportunities during the Epiphany season, we will be providing some exciting "learn about your neighbor" talks during the Easter Season.  In cooperation with the Education Commission, the Adult Forum education time at 10:15 on selected Sunday mornings will be used to feature speakers who will highlight various ways in which our neighbors are cared for in greater Cincinnati.

Second Sunday of Easter - April 28th

The Reverend Maggie Foote will be bringing us up-to-date on the development of the Latino Ministry Center (LMC) in Forest Park.  Several Christ Church Glendale congregants are long-time volunteers at the LMC's Homework Club, but there is a lot more going on at this growing diocesan mission.  Mother Maggie (who grew up as a child of this parish!) will also be preaching the sermon at our services that Sunday morning.
Prayers for the victims of the Easter Day bombings at churches in Sri Lanka.
Risen Christ to whom we raise our Alleluias with joy and wonder, we grieve for your children in Sri Lanka, murdered for revenge for the murders of your children in New Zealand for whom we also grieve.

Risen Christ, innocent victim of fear and hatred, we trust that you received them with wounded arms held open.

Risen Christ we grieve with so many wounded in body, mind and spirit, and give thanks that you are with them in ways we cannot be.

Risen Christ, who prayed forgiveness for your murderers from your Cross,  we commend to your perplexing mercy the suicide bombers who also died.

Risen Christ, we bring to you our fear, our grief, our anger, our despair. Forgive our hidden and guarded desires for revenge.

Risen Christ, receive our ragged and shaken Alleluias and the chaos of our hearts and minds. Renew us in your compassionate love. Amen

Amen
