Camp is a powerful, transformative experience.
The critical question you may be asking is: “When will they make a decision about camps for the rest of the summer?" The answer to that question is complex.
As we look toward summer 2020, we find ourselves in the midst of the continually evolving novel coronavirus health emergency. The safety of our campers and staff remains our #1 priority.
Please know that we are working closely with the Wayland Health Department and Human Resources to to enhance the health management process for campers and staff to ensure the safety for our entire community.
The Recreation Department is preparing for summer camps to happen as scheduled with modifications for physical distancing and adhering to global, federal, state, and local guidelines, some of which remain fluid.
We hope to have more information to share about summer camp openings by May 18, when Governor Charlie Baker updates his stay-at-home advisory and essential services order.
Governor Charlie Baker has extended the stay-at-home advisory and ordered the closure of schools and non-emergency childcare programs through June 29. The extended closure means that all of our spring programs and the first two weeks of our summer programs are cancelled.
Wayland Rec has issued credits to each participant's account for the full amount of the fees paid for programs between March 13 and July 2 (for Summer Camps, that's what we call Week 1 and Week 2). This is true for all of our licensed Wayland Rec Camps: Beach Buddies, Summer Adventure, Wayland Escapes, our CIT Program, and our sports and science clinics. All corresponding Extended Day fees will also be credited. It will take us some more time, but we hope to have all credits issued by May 8.
You can log into your Wayland Rec account to see your credits for Spring programs, and Camps Week 1 and Week 2. You have three choices:
- Do nothing. We’ll automatically apply a credit. Credits are for the full amount paid, and valid toward a future Rec program, event or beach pass for anyone in your household;
- Transfer a camp credit to 2021. Complete the survey below and we’ll use the credit to enroll your camper in the same camp week for summer 2021 (only for same session next year, but in next age group); or
- Request a refund. Refunds will be issued to your credit card where possible, otherwise by check. *We are working with our credit card merchant to waive the transaction fees, but each refunded transaction may be reduced by a credit card processing fee up of to 3.2%.
