Center Stage Series Performance
Evolution is a “lyrical and imaginative” (The Associated Press) one woman show depicting three members of a family dealing with their youngest daughter’s mental illness. Evolution challenges our assumptions about progress and change in ways that are both “hilarious and haunting’ (Backstage). The performance will be in the Center for Faith and Life, Main Hall on Saturday, April 6 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are on sale at the Box Office or at tickets.luther.edu


Announcements
­­ Students are invited to an open forum. Faculty and student representation from the Curriculum Revision Task Force will be present to share data from the student survey and collect general feedback from students about general education curriculum. The forum will take place on Tuesday, April 9 at 5:30 p.m. in Olin 102.

With the goal of providing emotional and financial support to the children treated at Children's Miracle Network Hospitals, the Luther College Dance Marathon will hold their sixth annual LCDM Big Event from 10 a.m.-10 p.m. Saturday, April 13 in the Main Gym of the Regents Center. This year's event will feature several community and student guest performers, family speakers, games, bounce houses, a soccer tournament, silent disco, food, smoothies from Magpie coffeehouse, silent auctions, raffles and dancing.

The Luther College Concert Band , one of the Midwest's touring collegiate wind ensembles, will present a concert at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 9, in the Main Hall of the Center for Faith and Life. The performance is the culmination of the band's 2019 Southwest Tour.

 #GYT ( Get Yourself Tested) -- If you are sexually active, getting tested for STDs is one of the most important things you can do to protect your health! Luther Health Service in partnership with Winneshiek County Public Health will be offering free STD testing for Luther students on April 11 from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and April 12 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Health Service. This is a FREE Walk-In service in collaboration also with Luther's Wellness Fair!

Move Out 2019 is just around the corner, and we need your help! Over the past five years, Luther has reduced its overall waste by 56% and we’re hoping to continue that trend of reduction. The Center for Sustainable Communities has 2-hour shifts open for volunteers who will assist with loading trucks with donations and diverting items from the landfill. All are welcome to work! Are you looking to be CPR or First Aid trained for your summer job or future employment? I will holding one or two classes in April so please email Vicky Jaeger and you will be added to the list. The participants then will pick the date. CPR requires one evening and First Aid requires two evenings and there is a fee involved.

Preus Library's annual National Library Week book sale  will be held from Monday, April 8 to Saturday, April 13. Hundreds of hardcover and paperback books (and lots of plants, too!) will be available for purchase in the library. Prices will decline daily.

SAC Cinema presents Bumblebee "On the run in the year of 1987, Bumblebee finds refuge in a junkyard in a small Californian beach town. Charlie, on the cusp of turning 18 and trying to find her place in the world, discovers Bumblebee, battle-scarred and broken." (IMDB.com) The movie is on Friday, April 5 (7 p.m. doors open) and  7:30 p.m. movie starts, Valders 206. Free with CAF and $5 without. Free popcorn while supplies last!
Luther presents an Interfaith Forum (April 4-6), where international scholars, practitioners of interfaith collaboration and faith leaders of the Midwest gather to help engage the campus in an assembly about the challenges of interfaith existence and collaboration. Intended to foster conversations and promote interfaith collaborations, Luther's Interfaith Forum will include a collection of discussions, workshops, panels and classes. Registration for the event is $20. The deadline for registration is April 4.

SPIN Theater presents a collection of one-act performances varying in genre, directed and produced by students of all years. Of the five productions, "The Giver," "The Man Who Couldn't Dance," "The Summer People" and "The Last Cyclist" will have two performances. The first show begins at 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 5, and the other showing of these productions begins at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, April 7. The fifth production, "Matchgirl," will take place once at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, April 6. All of the performances will take place in the Jewel Theatre of the Center for the Arts.

LIBRARY BOOKS ARE DUE! April 5 is the due date for books checked out from the Main Stacks by students on or before Friday, March 29. Books may be renewed once online or by bringing them in physically to the circulation desk if you have exceeded the renewal limit. The new due date is May 17, the last day of Spring Term classes. Click on "Library Account" online , and sign in with your NorseKey to see what you have checked out and when it is due.

Call for proposals:  The Paideia Endowment Governing Board invites members of the Luther community to propose presentations on the theme “Resistance and Resilience” for the 2019-2020 Texts and Issues  Lecture Series. Participants are encouraged to address the theme from the perspective of a wide variety of texts drawn from the arts, sciences, and humanities. If interested, please  submit  a  a brief proposal (250-500 words) by Monday,
April 15.  

Now accepting nominations  for  Student Organization Awards Student Activities and Student Senate will present winners in each category with a Martin Luther Bobblehead Statue (500 Year Reformation Special Edition). Categories include: Outstanding Student Leader, Outstanding Student Organization, Outstanding Service Project, Outstanding Event, and Outstanding Student Organization Advisor. Deadline to nominate April 22. 2019.

Counseling Service is seeking 1 Outreach Assistant for 2019-20. This is a work study position of 4-5 hours weekly. Must be a self-starter, creative, outgoing and interested in the promotion of positive mental health. Outreach Assistant will plan and deliver passive and active programming relating to mental health. Please review the job description for more information. To apply submit a resume and cover letter to  [email protected]  by

Student Senate Leadership Elections — Are you looking to be a leader and enact campus-wide change? Elections for President and Vice President of Student Senate for the 2019-2020 academic year are commencing. Students are encouraged to apply as pairs for the two leadership positions. Applications and support sheets can be found  here  and  here . Both are due to the Student Life Office by 4:00 p.m. April 9 and campaigning will begin promptly at that same time.
