As we begin 2021 it is hard not to forget the challenges that were presented in 2020, as last year nearly began and abruptly ended with the COVID-19 pandemic. 2021 may very well hold a continuum of unknown challenges, but we will maintain focus on our commitment to our community to provide exceptional services and programs. The City, as with many other organizations, experienced drastic changes in priorities and resource allocations as last year made its way to the end. Meetings and collaboration were changed as we quickly moved to virtual platforms on the onset of the pandemic; projects and programs were halted as we managed our budget and cash flow; and time and other resources were reallocated to address the needs of the City’s business.
We began our 2021 with 2020 in the not-so-distant past, departments are busy preparing for projects outlined in the recently approved 2021 Operating Budget not only catching up on items carried over from the previous year but also to bring new improvements and upgrades to our community. With spring at our doorstep, the Parks & Recreation Department is especially busy with pre-season maintenance in preparation for league play to begin. This time of year, the weather can play favors or not in many outdoor projects. Public Works continues to monitor and manage the winter weather events, always ready to respond to road conditions to keep our City roadways passable and safe!
The City continues to be diligent in responding to the pandemic situation, which remains at various stages. City facilities remain open and park programs and activities are being planned, but with continued restrictions related to social distancing and screening. We continue to ask our community, visitors, and employees to be diligent and take precautions as recommended or instructed to do.
City staff is dedicated to being good stewards to our community and will continue to operate efficiently to deliver superior municipal services to our citizens and visitors, and we want to hear from our community.
