Greetings!
Heading into summer is always a fun and exciting time for children and for families! Typically it means spending more time together as a family and getting outdoors to enjoy the warm sunny weather. For some, it also means kids are out of school, which may leave you wondering how to keep children occupied, engaged, safe, and having fun all summer long.
Our Providers will continue to deliver components of our unique programming all summer, including our Together Wee Can events. In July, the children in our homes will learn about and participate in a series of sports and physical activities, such as soccer, gymnastics, basketball, baseball and tennis as part of our “Wee Olympics” event during the week of July 23- 27
th
. In August, they will learn about and explore their 5 senses (smell, touch, taste, see, hear) through play-based activities and events.
In addition to our programming, we are providing you with our “
Passport to Summer”
edition of our Newsletter which includes articles, tips, activities and recipes to ensure you and your family have an amazing summer!!
We encourage families to focus on quality time together, which doesn’t have to break the bank. With just a few minutes of planning, you can keep children active and entertained - in fun, out-of-the-ordinary ways all summer long!
- Summer Bucket List: As a family come up with the ultimate list of summer activities everyone in the family can enjoy. Work your way through your list to make this the best summer! The list will give children something to look forward to and they will enjoy crossing things off as they go.
- Blowing bubbles: Kids love blowing and chasing bubbles. Bubbles are simple and inexpensive to make and offer hours of outdoor fun!
- Go for a hike: There are so many parks and trails in Ontario, find one close to home and go for a family hike. Take the time to look around, check out the different kinds of trees and see how many kinds of birds you can spot.
- Go Fishing: During the week of June 30-July 8 you can fish without a fishing license in Ontario. This is a great opportunity to try it out and see if it’s a hobby you and your family may enjoy gong forward.
- Go on a Picnic: Pack a lunch, some snacks, drinks and a blanket and go on a picnic, whether it’s at a park or in your yard, children will love the opportunity to eat in a new place.
- Go out for Ice Cream: Take a walk to your local ice cream parlour or buy some special ice cream and toppings and have your own ice cream night at home.
Regardless of what you have planned, whether it's swimming, camping, fishing or traveling with your children, cherish the family time spent enjoying these summer months.
Sincerely,
Lisa Parise
