The 3w Logo
Our logo has three worlds with Europe and the Middle East visible.  The three colors represent the three worlds of Eastern Europe, Western Europe and the Middle East. They also represent how we divide our three areas of ministry. Most importantly, they represent the three worlds of Christianity: Traditional, Post-Christendom, and Non-Western. Visit our website www.three-worlds.com to learn more about "the Three Worlds of Christianity."

ORDINATION OF THE NEXT GENERATION

For the past nine years, our Three Worlds team has tracked closely with the young generation in Europe and the Middle East. Over these years we have helped to identify emerging young leaders, offered support and training, and walked with them as they started up new ministries or became pastors of churches. It has been an incredibly rewarding experience for all of us.

One of the very first young leaders that we started tracking with was Marcos Lovaglio in Arco, Italy. H e has been in our homes, our team has visited the church many, many times, and he is an important part of our 3W Leadership Network (3WLN). He also did an internship at County Line Church of God in Auburn, Indiana. Every step of the way over the past nine years, Marcos has been a humble learner whose joy for the Lord is infectious.

This September 21, the De Franciscos (3W-Spain), the Langfords (3W-Liverpool), and the Kihms (3W-Hungary) joined Regional Coordinator Patrick Nachtigall for the ordination service of Marcos Lovaglio led by Italy national leader Daniele Santonocito. It was a wonderful weekend of celebrating God's call on Marcos' life.

We are so grateful for Marcos's wife, Katherine, who is an integral part of the ministry and an enthusiastic part of Europe X and 3WLN. These two are an amazing pair with maturity way beyond their years. And Marcos and Katherine are expecting a child in 2020!

As this new generation emerges into leadership, ordinations may be more common and necessary. We will be evaluating the process across Europe, in particular, to see what ways ordination can be standardized and in what ways they can remain local. It's a wonderful challenge to have.

EUROPE X BRINGS HEALTH

We continue to be really pleased with the Europe X network, which walks alongside pastors and their spouses as they create a church-planting DNA in post-Christendom settings.

Europe X is so valuable because it allows pastors and spouses to exchange ideas, share challenges, solve  problems together, and most importantly, be of mutual support to one another as they face the challenges of life in ministry.

The most recent Europe X session was held in Treviso, Italy, October 11-13. The focus was on helping a church navigate change. Change is very difficult for most congregations, yet it is an important part of keeping a church growing and adjusting to new realities. Patrick and Nathan Tatman (3W-Associate Regional Coordinator) walked the group through a number of practical lectures and exercises to equip them with tools to bring necessary and healthy change to the church. There was also time for the participants from Italy, Hungary, Spain, England, and France to assess their own ministries and share with the group to receive input.

The next Europe X meetings will be in Switzerland and Germany in 2020 .

CHOG IN UKRAINE SUFFERS FIRE

T he Church of God in Poltava, Ukraine, caught fire last week and sustained considerable damage. The fire destroyed the roof and the apartment where Pastor Stepan and his wife Luda live with their two children. We are extremely grateful that this wonderful family is safe.

The damage is quite extensive and the top priority for  the  church is to repair the roof before the heavy rain and snows begin very soon. The pastor's family have temporarily moved in with family members.

T he Poltava church is a fast-growing, dynamic church with young leadership.  They are an active part of our 3W Leadership Network (3WLN) and will be presenting at the 2020 event. We hope to be able to contribute to the rebuilding of the church.

MARCO'S WORLD

Marco and the junior class at Black Forest Academy took a school trip to Paris and the beaches of Normandy to learn about D-Day. Marco loves European and military history, so he greatly enjoyed seeing the location where tens of thousands of brave Canadians, Americans, and British gave their lives to liberate the European mainland from the Nazis. As a family, we watched Saving Private Ryan before he made the trip.

T hird culture kids/missionary kids (TCKs/MKs) often grow up with an expanded worldview and are accustomed to looking at all sides of a story. While in Normandy, Marco (who has grown up mostly in Germany) found it interesting to visit the graves of the German soldiers. Many of the dead soldiers in the graves were barely older than Marco and their graves are untended. Marco wrote a poem called "The Forgotten" about his experience. He said the trip through France was the most fun he has had on a field trip, giving opportunities to make new friends and bond with classmates in new ways. We are always grateful for the wonderful opportunities he has and that he appreciates them and absorbs them.
