What is a tiding anyway? A tiding is a piece of news and the plural of it is tidings. The angel brought good tidings, or good news, for all the world. The Savior had arrived! This relates to the the word “gospel” as well, which means good news. We continue to preach the gospel at Ayersville UMC, while the world and false teachers preach something else. The church offers good news, while the other offers only good views. Plus, the news on television hasn’t sounded so good this year. There’s been a lot of focus on the coronavirus and bad news all year. People desperately need the gospel of Jesus Christ!
We’ve all experienced new and varied struggles in 2020. The narratives of our lives have been far different that our anticipated plans and aspirations. However, the narrative of the gospel hasn’t changed. Jesus is still Lord! He was still born of the Virgin Mary in a stable under a special star with wise men and shepherds attending his birth and angels heralding it. The church was given the responsibility to also herald his birth with a commission to tell the whole world that there is salvation in Jesus Christ. The gospel has not been canceled! Everyone can benefit from the good news that is found in the Christmas narrative.
I wish you a merry and uniquely special Christmas this year. I also invite you to make a special gift in celebration of the birth of Christ. The local church remains the best hope for the world when it shares the gospel! Please consider making an online donation at ayersvillechurch.com and find the giving page there, or mail in your gift. Your tax deductible donations are valid for 2020 through December 31st. Let’s be like the angels and continue to herald the good tidings and good news about Jesus’ birth. Jesus saves!
