Pocatello Area: The 4th Annual Eggcessible Easter Egg Hunt is Coming

$6 for special needs patrons

Free: Caretakers/parents

$5: Family and friends

-this offers a safe opportunity for special needs patrons who may or may not understand the rules to jump without music, directly with caregivers and family who can help them be safe😀😀-we love you!

Work of art: St Anthony - Still Open For Registration
East Idaho youth. We still have some availability in St. Anthony. This is an excellent opportunity and you don't need any prior experience. You just need to want to have fun while developing some new skills! Don't delay applying. VR has some form requirements that can take time to process. Hurry hurry!

Coming in June, 2019: A 5 Day Resident Camp to Learn Employment Skills
  McCall Outdoor Science School and the Idaho Division of Vocational Rehabilitation have teamed up once again to provide the IDVR MOSS Program this summer!

IDVR with assistance from the Idaho Falls School District is offering a 5-day resident camp to learn skills that lead to successful employment. Through new experiences and exposure to jobs that focus on protecting Idaho’s natural
resources, students will participate in a hands-on program that teaches scientific and ecological principles as well as the job skills needed to be successful in these in-demand careers.

Program Dates and Times
Drop off: Sunday June 16, 2019 at 3:00 PM
Pick up: Friday June 21, 2019 at 2:00 PM
Students will be presenting a work based
learning project on Friday June 21st at 1:00 PM,
parents are encouraged to attend.

Cost
IDVR will cover the costs of the program.

Who is Eligible?
Students must be between the ages of 15-21, in high school or attending post secondary
education, and be a current
IDVR customer.

Program Entrance Requirement
Students must meet the following requirements for consideration:
• Eligible for vocational rehabilitation
• Attending high school or post-secondary education
• Between 15-21 years old
• Commitment to complete the program
With or without reasonable accommodation
• Ability to maintain appropriate behavior and social skills
• Able to take direction from program staff
• Able to walk hiking trails and maintain
stamina throughout the day to complete
activities

Application Process
All interested students will be required to complete an application to attend IDVR’s MOSS program. Application is due by April 29, 2019. There are a limited number of spots available in the program. Applications will be considered when received. The application includes:
• Completed application
• Teacher assessment
• Application essay
• Recommendation from VR counselor

We will also be training in Bonner's Ferry on Tuesday, April 23rd (location, time and registration information to follow in a separate post) and we will be at the Moving On Transition Fair in Lewiston on Thursday, April 25th from 3:30 - 6:00 pm

Talented assets are waiting!
Meet Marco. He has a deep understanding of databases, communication protocols, cloud computing and web frameworks. He is analytical, detail-oriented and can focus on a task for hours. He regularly finds software bugs that other QA testers miss. He has a MS in computer science from a local university. He is honest to a fault. He’d be a great addition to any tech team—but he struggles in interviews and can’t seem to land a job.

Marco is an amalgam of the 35 percent of adults on the autism spectrum who go to college; within that group, a whopping  85 percent are unemployed . These individuals are part of a larger neurodiverse group that includes people affected by dyslexia, ADHD, obsessive compulsive disorder, Tourette’s syndrome and more—many of whom have skills that the tech world really needs right now."

There are a lot of things happening at the Idaho Legislature each day that they are in session (typically from January through March.) Did you know that you can access the daily agendas on their website? You can also listen into the committee hearings that stream live. Idaho Parents Unlimited pays close attention to the House and Senate Health and Welfare and Education committees but you may interested in hearing about agencies, proposed rule changes, and other legislative action as well. With busy schedules and proximity - not everyone lives in the Treasure Valley - shocking! - this is a great way to stay on top of things no matter where you are. Behavior is a form of communication. Participants will gain the knowledge and skills about positive supports in the home, community, and schools.

We welcome people who want to attend the training in person at our Boise office. (Please plan to be in the office at least by 5:20 p.m.)

* We usually broadcast from our Boise office, but this Month's in-person event is going to be a watch party as we will be actually broadcasting this from the road. Our presenters will be in Washington D.C. at a conference.
