or
Manhattan Irish Fest Parade 5k
, you’re lucky, because there are still plenty of St. Patrick’s Day-themed races for you to choose from. From Illinois to Wisconsin to Indiana to Iowa to Michigan, we found 85 races over the next couple weeks that’ll flood the streets in green. Get Sham-rocking!

Channel the Luck of the Irish With St. Patrick's Day Running Gear
The old tradition is if you don’t wear green on St. Patrick’s Day, you get pinched. Nobody wants that.
If you care to avoid that nuisance when you’re in the middle of
your local St. Patrick’s Day race
,
you’re in luck.
Runner's World found some awesome items to get decked out for the holiday (or in some cases the rest of the year) so you’re styling as you enjoy your well-earned, post-run pint.

Periodization: Make the Most of Your Training Season
What is periodization? Periodization is a training style that helps you divide the year into different training periods. Could you imagine doing the same workouts week in and week out? Periodization helps you create periods of training that are easier than others to promote rest and to let the body grow stronger.
Periodization involves many variables including frequency (how often you train), duration (how long you train for one session), volume (how much you train in a given week or cycle) and intensity (how hard you train at any given time).

Pi Day: Run 3.14 on 3/14
Mid March is rolling around soon, which makes many sun-deprived runners think about Daylight Saving Time and more hours to log evening runs. While the Shakespeare-inclined worry about what the Ides might bring, mathematicians and the number-obsessed happily make plans for 3.14-mile Pi Day runs on March 14.
The Illinois Science Council held its first
Pi Day 3.14-mile run in Chicago in 2013
. The race had an entry ceiling of 314, and sold out in 3.14 weeks. Now organized with a number of Chicago Fleet Feet stores, the races have stuck to the 3-14 date and distance, and begin at 2 pi. After each run, participants get a Pi Guy T-shirt, pizza, and beer.
