Promoting and defending religious freedom is a major priority for the U.S. Government. To elevate the effort to ensure that everyone is able to live in accordance with the dictates of their conscience, U.S. Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo will host the Ministerial to Advance Religious Freedom in Washington, D.C. on July 23-27, 2018.
Research shows that countries that embrace and protect religious freedom are more economically successful, protect women's rights, and experience less instability. I
n humanitarian crises, we know that members of racial, ethnic, religious, and linguistic minorities are often
among
the most marginalized communities, and their vulnerabilities are often exacerbated in situations of conflict and natural disaster.
USAID looks forward to seeing many faith-based, faith-inspired and local civil society partners at both the official, as well as, the many side-events during the Ministerial to Advance Religious Freedom and planned follow-on regional summits.

U.S. Department of State: 2018 Trafficking in Persons Report
U.S. State Department released the 2018 Trafficking in Persons (TIP) Report which
is the U.S. Government's principal diagnostic tool to assess government efforts related to prosecuting traffickers, protecting and empowering victims, and preventing future trafficking crimes.

- Orphans and Vulnerable Children II (Apply by July 30, 2018; 72052118R00016): This new four-year Activity will support Haitian children living with and/or affected by HIV/AIDS to grow into healthy, educated, young adults free from violence and the ill-effects of HIV.
- Enabling Community-Oriented Policing in the Sahel (Apply by August 20, 2018; SFOP0005179): This program aims to help the law enforcement agencies, defined as the national police and gendarmerie, in the Sahel make progress towards the goal of more community-oriented policing. The program will begin in Senegal and Burkina Faso with potential expansion in Mali and Niger in option year periods.
- Community-Based Activities to Build Civil Society and Youth Capacity in Mali (Apply by August 20, 2018; SML20018GR0005)

An open competition for organizations to submit applications to carry out a program (or programs) to help counter violent extremism through cultural events and civic dialogue.
- Syria Humanitarian Assistance Consortium (Apply by September 30, 2018; 720FDA18APS00002): Under this APS, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Office of U.S. Foreign Disaster Assistance (OFDA) seeks to fund one or more consortia of NGOs working in Syria to implement a program entitled "Syria Humanitarian Assistance Consortium."
