FEATURED STUDENTS: HSD 2019 Valedictorians and Salutatorians
Congratulations are in order for the 54 students from our four comprehensive high schools and Hillsboro Online Academy who earned the title of Valedictorian or Salutatorian! On Friday, May 24, we brought these top-achieving students together for the District's annual Val/Sal Luncheon. They were joined by Superintendent Mike Scott, Mayor Steve Callaway, Hillsboro Chamber President Deanna Palm, and two School Board members at the event, where they had the opportunity to share their post-graduation plans and favorite memories from high school. They also shared their words of wisdom for incoming freshmen. Great job and best wishes to you all! Visit the Graduation page of our website to see more pictures.

Bond Update: Glencoe Groundbreaking Ceremony
Glencoe High School is proud to announce the groundbreaking ceremony for its new additions and renovations on Wednesday, June 5, at 2 p.m. Over the course of the next 14 months, the school will be adding 30,500 square feet of space, modernizing career-technical spaces and classrooms, and updating parking lots. These are the first major renovations in nearly 20 years. The event will take place near the front entrance of the school, 2700 NW Glencoe Rd. All are welcome.

Summer Meal Sites
Summer break will soon be here, which brings excitement for many, but also concerns about food insecurity for some of our students. If you have any questions about the Summer Food Service Program, please contact Rebecca Wicks, Nutrition Services Supervisor, at 503-844-1460.

School-based Health Center Summer Hours
HSD's school-based health center at Century High School will operate on its summer schedule from Monday, June 10, through Monday, Aug. 12: Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays - 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., closed from 12 p.m. to 12:30 p.m. for lunch. Tuesdays are reserved for mental health appointments only. Call 503-597-4580 to make an appointment.

Stop at 4 Campaign
About 3,000 kids under the age of six fall from windows every year in the U.S. With beautiful summer weather upon us, it's imperative to keep children safe around open windows. Here are some key tips: 1) stop at FOUR inches if leaving windows open; 2) move furniture away from windows; and 3) make household rules about not playing near windows.
