This will be an Inter-Generational service, focusing on how
we can learn to make something beautiful and good out of
our mistakes, rather than being judgmental about ourselves.
We'll create a piece of art out of broken things to
symbolize this concept.

A MINUTE FOR MUSIC
 I hope if you were watching the Sunday morning worship service from General Assembly that you had the same experience I did; a feeling that the boundaries of our beloved religious community were exponentially expanded. We are part of a living tradition that has world-wide reach. And although individually we have many varied beliefs, our UU principles and sources are the bond that unites us in faith.
Our hymnal is titled
Singing the Living Tradition
and I believe that singing together in worship is one way we can express this sacred bond and also experience our connectedness to one another as well as to those who came before us.
Back in 1994, Tom and I attended the funeral for his beloved H.S. choir director, piano teacher and musical mentor, Paul Bell. He had left specific instructions that he wanted his final funeral hymn to be the SINE NOMINE ("For All the Saints.") And as the congregation began to sing, we instinctively all realized that everyone who had been taught by Mr. Bell was breathing together, knew the harmonies and phrasing, had learned the same pronunciations and felt his presence. May we feel the same connectedness, to our past and to each other, when we sing together.
UNSUNG HERO
June's Unsung Hero is Dori Dick! For a good long time Dori has done the very important work of recruiting Sunday Morning ushers, scheduling them, and ensuring that our hymnals are properly shelved each Sunday. No one person probably knows about all her behind-the-scenes work, but it includes outdoor weeding at the Fellowship, set-up for numerous events, window washing, and last, but certainly not least, her incredible cooking, most notably when hosting service auction dinners but also for other MVUUF occasions.

Just wanted to let you all know that the end of our current fiscal year falls on this Saturday, June 30th...BUT you can still make payments on those 2017-2018 Operating Pledges this Sunday, July 1st. Just make sure to note on your check that the payment is for FY (fiscal year) 17-18.

MEDITATIONS...SAVE THE DATE!
 Bob Sima and Shannon Plummer are known for creating a multi-dimensional experience of inspiring message-rich live music, conscious breathwork, silence, poetry, guided meditation, and intentional journeying - all interwoven to take listeners on a beautiful inward journey. Their meditations often combine feminine and masculine aspects of practice and are as easy for beginners as they are investigative for the advanced.
They will be sharing their hour-long inner meditation journey with us, followed by an hour-long concert. ALL are welcome!

ST. VINCENT DE PAUL LUNCH
Please join us in providing food and/or serving for our long-standing second Saturday lunch ministry for women and families staying at the St. Vincent de Paul Shelter. Thanks to ALL who pitched in by providing food and/or serving the June meal! We served 73 diners with 52 in the women's group and 21 in the family group and most of those were children. Our numbers were up a bit from May when we served 59, but still lower than in the fall and winter.
 July 14th menu
: Our needs this month include sandwich filling (BBQ pulled pork/chicken/beef, sloppy joes, or chicken/egg salad) vegetable dishes (pasta salad with LOTS of veggies, cole slaw, or other vegetable - steamed broccoli with Italian salad dressing has been popular!), green salads, fresh fruit/fruit salads, 100% orange juice and reduced-fat milk (we use buns from St. Vincent's pantry for the sandwiches). We need several donations of most items, with each donation serving 15-20 people. Please bring all items---heated if applicable---to 120 West Apple Street (the St. Vincent de Paul Gateway Shelter) by 10:45 am.
WE ARE A FRAGRANCE-FREE FELLOWSHIP
 Remember...due to allergies, asthma, and other sensitivities, we ask you to please refrain from wearing scent when at the Fellowship (perfume, aftershave, scented hair products, lotions, etc.). Thank you for helping us to be a safe as well as welcoming congregation!
