A high school sophomore, Spencer is very active. He plays baseball, is in the pre-law program, a member of the National Juniors Honor Society and aspires to one day become a sports agent.

In order to achieve his dreams, he needed an opportunity to begin his work experience. Thankfully, after completing the JA Career Bound program, Spencer landed his first internship at Junior Achievement of South Florida.

For the past couple of weeks, he has improved his communication and photography skills, learned some social media tips, completed research projects and appeared on a video sharing his JA Career Bound highlights. Check it out:

Rosé Soirée Raises
$14,000 For Junior Achievement Programs

In case you missed it, Junior Achievement of South Florida's  Rosé Soirée, presented by GrayRobinson P.A., was on June 21 at Lauderdale Yacht Club. More than 100 guests attended the celebration that raised nearly  $14,000 for entrepreneurship, work readiness and financial literacy programs.

Our first Woman of Wisdom honoree, Sheryl Clark, President of  Beyond Proper by Boston Proper, did not disappoint guests as she shared the highlights and challenges of her career. Congrats Sheryl!

Also inspiring us with her empowering words was our host  Mayanne Downs, President and Managing Director of GrayRobinson. Guests also had a chance to hear from one of our JA alumni, Lauren Van Hemel, a recent graduate of Atlantic Technical High School and JA Career Bound.

Finally, welcome new members to the JA Circle of Wise Women - Barbara Abrams, Gail Auguston-Koppen, Maureen Canada, Jill Ginsberg and LaurieAnne Minoff - who were pinned at the Soirée.

For more information about the Circle of Wise Women, contact Diana Metcalf at [email protected].

The grant is part of a larger statewide initiative by State Farm totaling $60,000 that will support Junior Achievement programs in 11 localities throughout Florida, enabling over 5,000 young people to participate in Junior Achievement's nationally recognized economic education programs.

"Many students in our community lack the basic information they need to make good education, career and financial decisions," said Laurie Sallarulo, President and CEO of Junior Achievement of South Florida. "We appreciate State Farm for investing in our mission to prepare and inspire youth for success in a global economy."

Junior Achievement of South Florida inspires and prepares young people to succeed in a competitive, global economy by providing real world training in financial literacy, entrepreneurship and work readiness.
