The Penn Central Conference is seeking to hire an Office Manager. The Penn Central Conference is a faith-based and mission driven conference formed in January 1963 as a merger of the Congregational Christian Church and the Evangelical and Reformed Church. We are the regional body of 184 United Church of Christ churches located in urban, suburban, small town, and rural locations in Central Pennsylvania from New York to Maryland.
This position is full-time with occasional evening and weekend duties. General schedule is 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and is located in Harrisburg, PA. The Office Manager provides essential support services primarily to the Conference Minister and Conference operations. The Office Manager is a member of the office staff,and directly responsible to the Conference Minister.
General Responsibilities include:
Organize and coordinate office administration and procedures to ensure organizational effectiveness and efficiency. Responsible for developing intra-office communication protocols, streamlining administrative procedures, supervising office staff and task delegation.
In coordination with the Conference Treasurer and the Board of Director's Finance Committee, provide Financial Management support for the Conference to include making deposits, preparing payables, working with the accounting firm for payables and receivables, and making payroll inputs.
Provide administrative support for the Conference Minister by handling correspondence and email, maintaining database files, and serving as the backup receptionist.
Assist with planning and organizing the Penn Central Conference Annual Meeting, Board of Directors Meetings, General Synod, and other Conference related Commissions, Ministry Teams, and activities as required.
Maintain strict confidentiality related to payroll, personnel records, church finances and other sensitive communications.
Strong service-related people skills and problem-solving skills.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Knowledge and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
Experience with database management systems.
Detail-oriented and strong organizational skills
Prior bookkeeping experience desired
