Summit Church. This awesome Partner in Education has not only assisted in setting up our FAFSA Food Feast, but volunteers have also come in on the weekends to assist our Theatre program in organizing their storage spaces as well as helping with stage and lighting for our recent performances.
We appreciate the time and support they provide to various programs here at Colonial HS!

 I hope you enjoyed the taste of fall weather we have had over this past few days! This is our last school week before the Thanksgiving break. We are releasing student progress reports this week so if you have a child at Colonial, please review their results right away. This week and the time we have remaining in December will have a big impact on semester grades so if your student needs any additional help, please have them take advantage of our free tutoring.
Hopefully this finds your Monday off to a terrific start. In this issue we continue to celebrate some of our students' successes including their time in service to the community. Even a quick scroll through provides the evidence: we have some pretty terrific students at CHS! This is a big reason that "It Is Great To Be A Grenadier!"

Friday, November 22
Our annual tradition of the Thanksgiving Assembly will take place this Friday. This is a great opportunity for each student to bring in nonperishable food items to be donated to the East Orange Community Center.
Last year, we fed over 200 families! Of course, this 55th annual food drive will be a class competition - the first period with the most food collected and the best decorated food basket will be awarded and recognized at the Assembly. If possible, bring in what you can, so we can feed even more families this year!
Just a few ideas; but anything nonperishable you can give is greatly appreciated. Thank you Grenadiers for your kindness!!

Students and staff members shared their "why" for attending college as the first generation in their families to do so. Several staff members, including

LIA students visit with Microsoft to learn about opportunities
Our LIA (Latinos In Action) students had a great time learning about different career opportunities with Microsoft, as well as discovering possible internships, summer camps and classes offered at the store. Thank you to

Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) students
The AVID Council students have been volunteering at
Vista Lakes Elementary for the last three years! Our volunteer coordinator,
Heilimel Mota, communicates with the VLE PTSA and then coordinates the event for her fellow classmates. Last week, they volunteered at the Harry Potter themed STEM Family Night!

Several AP Art students created beautiful artworks with soft pastels on the sidewalks around Winter Park's Central Park for the 6th Annual "Chalk the Walk."

FIND YOUR PASSION
Truth is, most people just go with the flow; they stick with the flock. Well, that's up to you. The choice is yours, to be a follower and get what's given. Or you can step up and take what's yours.
If you are a regular reader of our Colonial Connection, including this week, you will notice students engaged in all types of activities from A to Z. This includes academics, sports, theatre, volunteerism, singing, art and on and on. In terms of narrowing down some of your passions and goals, start first by making a list. To get your creative juices flowing, here are some random suggestions:
