Dear Friends and Supporters:

We've had a busy month at Saint John's, from our largest graduation ever, a milestone we celebrated with 24 of our clients on April 4, to incredible engagement and volunteerism on behalf of our community partners with a work day involving more than 120 volunteers helping to spruce up our facilities to a day of pampering for our clients with our bi-annual "Pretty on the Inside" event!

We also celebrated the hiring of two more clients, and honored our finance team for their continued dedication to making our financial systems run smoothly. We are also grateful to members of the local and national media, many of whom have shone a spotlight on our program and our mission these past few weeks.  All of this and more in this month's newsletter.  Enjoy!

Sincerely,

Michele Steeb

Twenty-four graduates of Saint John's Program for Real Change were celebrated by family, friends, members of the community, Saint John's supporters and staff as they marked this important milestone toward a new life of confidence and self-sustainability on April 4 at Plates Cafe.

Many thanks to Chef Andrea Reiter from The Gate Restaurant, Murieta Inn and Spa for the scrumptious German fare, to Revolution Wines for the delicious varietals, to The Flower Shop for the beautiful flowers, to Darbytown for keepin' our groove on with their toe-tapping tunes, to Bobbin Mulvaney for imparting her words of wisdom as our keynote speaker, to Rob Stewart for another stellar stint as our emcee extraordinaire and to our fantastic Guest Chef Dinner sponsor, Volt Workforce Solutions! Employee of the Month

Most may not associate our core value of Love with finance, but it is really quite fitting.  Melissa Smith, Pam Horan, and Jessica Mahan have worked tirelessly for the past year to elevate our financial systems, navigate multiple scheduled audits and to make our financial systems run smoothly.
Each week, they receive a myriad of requests from individuals in all departments, and they regularly respond in a timely and respectful manner.  Congratulations to our amazing finance team, Pam, Melissa and Jessica!

As a single mother of three, living paycheck-to-paycheck was a way of life. Stephanie became the sole parent of her family in 2014, when her husband was sentenced to 27 years to life in prison for beating her.

Fast forward a few years, and after suffering an injury, Stephanie got hopelessly behind on rent and, despite her best efforts, Stephanie and her children became homeless, once again.
