Flood and Wildfire Review Findings Released

Last December, former MLA George Abbott and hereditary Chief Maureen Chapman were appointed to undertake a thorough review of the 2017 flood and wildfire season. Addressing the New Normal: 21st Century Disaster Management in British Columbia outlines the findings of the review, and includes 108 recommendations to improve disaster response. Read More

The Province has proclaimed May 20 - 26, 2018, as Local Government Awareness Week, in conjunction with National Public Works Week. UBCM is pleased to support the 2018 program in partnership with CivicInfo BC and the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing. Read More 
National Housing Strategy Funding Applications

CMHC has launched a new webpage for applying to National Housing Strategy initiatives that includes detailed information on how to apply. Several initiatives, including the National Housing Co-Investment Fund and Rental Construction Financing, are or will be open to local governments.

Memorial Service: Jude Schooner

UBCM Convention Session Proposals

UBCM is accepting proposals for clinics and workshops at the 2018 Convention in Whistler. Interested parties are asked to review the criteria and deadlines and submit a proposal using the online form. The deadline for submissions is Friday, June 8, 2018.

The Capital Projects Sector of the Ministry's Community Gaming Grants program provides municipalities and regional districts with an opportunity to support local not-for-profit organizations in applying for capital project funding. The Association of Ontario Municipalities (AMO) is seeking information on BC's local government experience with the BC packaging and printed paper product stewardship program.
