A Message from the President
Dear Members,
Please join us this Shabbat evening as we welcome our new members with a Pre-Neg beginning at 5:30 and services following at 6:30. The life-blood of our Synagogue are our NEW members. We want to welcome the following families that have joined Bnai Israel this year:
Alan and Glenda Dubs
Ellen and Jean-Paul Emard
Harrison and Elizabeth Freedland
Marsha and Paul Freedman
Bruce and Lori Gorman
Marc and Marilyn Greenfield
Melissa and Greg Hilgert
Mike Huckman and John Klekamp
Jane and Gerry Kane
Owen and Judy Kaplan
Donna and Mitch Ratner
Jeremy and Alexa Revell
Michael and Barbara Rovner
Terry and Leslie Jensen
Susan Turner
Joelle Serot
On Shabbat morning, Scott Diamond will commemorate the 60th anniversary of his Bar Mitzvah and will read his Bar Mitzvah haftorah. Yasher Koach to Scott.
I want to thank all those that attended last week's Congregational meeting and all those that gave reports and participated. Look for a survey shortly that will give you an opportunity to share your thoughts on your vision for the
restoration and renovation of our sanctuary.
As you prepare for Pesach, the cleaning, shopping, cooking, and all that comes with it, remember the message of Passover is one of freedom and peace. A remembrance of our slavery and the gift of Eretz Yisrael. This is the time to be charitable to those who have less and be mindful of the horrors that still exist in our world. May you all be blessed with a Zissan Pesach.
Shabbat Shalom, see you in Shul.
Barry

Sisterhood Book Club News
Nine Sisterhood readers participated in a lively discussion of Karen Bender's provocative short story collection
The New Order on March 27. Many thanks to Arlene Burns for hosting and for co-leading the discussion of 4 of the stories.
Our next meeting will be on Wednesday, May 29, from 1-3 PM (place to be announced). We will discuss Elisha Waldman's memoir, This Narrow Space: A Pediatric Oncologist, His Jewish, Muslim, and Christian Patients, and a Hospital in Jerusalem. The book examines Dr. Waldman's work at Hadassah Hospital. It was positively reviewed in Hadassah Magazine, Kirkus Review, and elsewhere. As Dr. Jerome Groopman, author of The Anatomy of Hope, says, "This book will illuminate and inspire."
The Sisterhood Book Club is open to all Sisterhood members-another incentive to join or renew your membership! For more information, please contact [email protected].
