  STEERING COMMITTEE SPOTLIGHT

We are excited to share that Cynthia Burr, Vice-Chair for the Collective STEP for Youth Steering Committee, was awarded the 2018 Provost Award from the University of Arizona . The Provost Award was established in 2014 to honor an outstanding graduating student  wh o transferred to the University of Arizona from an Arizona community college. Criteria for the award includes perseverance and commitment to academic studies, contributions to the UA community and above-average sch olastic ability, citizenship and leadership.

Maricopa County WIC
is bringing you Summer Lunch Buddies from June 4 to July 31. Join them for FREE, nutritious meals for anyone 18 years and younger. Kids do not have to be on WIC or have an appointment to enjoy meals. OPPORTUNITIES

The  U.S. Food and Drug Administration (UDSA) has three grant opportunities relating to the opioid epidemic:
  • Rural Health and Safety Education Competitive Grants Program: Grants for projects that develop or implement individual and family health education programs to help rural communities address significant health issues. Education programs specializing in prevention and reduction of opioid abuse in rural communities are given priority for funding. Deadline: May 24th. 
  • Community Facilities Program Grants: $5 million in grant funding for innovative projects that address the opioid crisis in rural America. Rural communities, nonprofit organizations, and federally recognized tribes can apply for up to $150,000 in grants for innovative projects, such as mobile treatment clinics. The grants can be used to fund up to 75 percent of a project's cost. Deadline: June 4th.
  • Distance Learning and Telemedicine Grants: Applications for projects to provide opioid misuse prevention, treatment, or recovery services will receive priority, and $20 million has been set aside for grants specifically for opioid prevention, treatment and recovery projects. Deadline: June 4th.
Bloom 365 is hosting the Amplify Digital Arts Camp July 16-27 at Huntington University in Peoria, Arizona for teens who are interested in gaining experience with graphic design, short film production, and learning how to use social media for social good. Learn how to register here!
