NEWS FROM ST. MARY'S
A community of Christian worship, well-being, and service.

Palm Sunday:
Deep
Passion
Dear Friends,
Holy Week is the highest point of the Christian year, remembering how God has guided us over thousands of years, formed us as a people, delivered our ancestors from oppression, and became manifest in Jesus of Nazareth two thousand years ago.
At St. Mary's, attention is put into every detail of these moving services, from a community meal recalling Jesus's last supper, commemorating his crucifixion and burial, and gathering in the darkness at the Great Vigil as we hear the stories of salvation and welcome the resurrection with fire, water, and great celebration. Bishop Knisely will celebrate the Vigil with us, and there will be a chocolate fountain to follow...
Allow yourself and your family to come close to these holy mysteries this year as we celebrate the deepest truth of all: God's immeasurable love for each of us and for all people...There is no more important time for us to be together as a community...
See you at the table, Jennifer+

Collect for The Sunday of the Lord's Passion:
A
lmighty and everliving God, in your tender love for the human race you sent your Son our Savior Jesus Christ to take upon him our nature, and to suffer death upon the cross, giving us the example of his great humility: Mercifully grant that we may walk in the way of his suffering, and also share in his resurrection; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
You can access the bible passages read at church this weekend, and for any day of the year. We typically follow

We now have a new & easy way to support electronic giving:
If you have a smart phone or a tablet you can download and install the GivePlus mobile app. This mobile app supports all of the options that existed on the web page plus it supports thing like being able to use the camera on your phone to scan your credit/debit card so you don't have to type in all of the information. To install this app on your phone simply go to the Apple App Store or Google Play and search for "give plus church". The first time you launch the app you will be asked to search for a church. Simply type the zip code for Portsmouth, 02871, and you will be presented with a list of churches to choose from.
There are three ways you to make an offering for Easter flowers
in your name or in honor of someone else:
-Envelopes that you can find the next few weekends at church
-Through the GivePlus app mentioned above
If you choose to give via Vanco, please email [email protected] to indicate your name and for whom the flowers are given in memory or honor by April 14th.
Fallen Comrade Ceremony
The Fallen Comrades Ceremony is open to the public and designed to honor veterans while allowing
them to lay their burdens down. Based on Native American warrior welcoming-home rituals, the
ceremony restores hope for healing the soul injury that veterans who have served often carry.
Families of veterans and professionals who care for them are also encouraged to attend.
