Westminster Recital: Bach, Damase
Club 3-4-5 gone gagaThis fun bunch in Grades 3-5 had a blast in their final fellowship night of the year before summer. They have a bonus round to look forward to, though, as they will join with families from Westminster Church's Get S.E.T. after-school program for a baseball game on June 10. More details online HERE.

Beginning Sunday, May 20
Sunday, May 20, begins our summer worship schedule. Through September 2 we have one service of worship at 10:00 AM only. We will also celebrate Confirmation on Sunday, May 20

Summer Education 
In Summer Church School children ages three to four attend class in Room 07 (Lower Level) and children rising kindergarten to grade two may go to a story and activity time in Room 04 (Lower Level).
Parents can sign up to assist our Summer Church School Teachers. Childcare is available for infants and toddlers in the Nursery (Lower Level) during the service. 
 
Adult Education resumes Sunday, June 10, and follows the worship service. The summer line-up covers diverse topics: "Church Missions, Sacred Visions, and Court Decisions."

Sunday, May 13
Note these special events this coming Sunday:
  • It's Blanket Sunday, and we will honor mothers with the special offering for Church World Service's disaster relief services. Special envelopes will be available in the pews. 
  • It's also Teacher Appreciation Sunday. We will give our gratitude to our faithful Church School teachers for their year of service in a "Time for Teachers". 
  • Growing in God's Love, the new story book Bible that our own Carol Wehrheim helped to edit, will be available one last Sunday in Fellowship at the discounted rate of $10. 
Adult Education

Join us this Sunday, May 13 at 9:15 AM, for a summary by attorney Sally L. Steinberg of the legal issues relevant to churches offering sanctuary to undocumented residents.  Following a presentation there will be some time for questions that have not been addressed. For more info see the Adult Ed post.

This Sunday is also the final session before summer break of the  First Corinthians In-Depth Bible Study with George Hunsinger.

Auditions begin this next week for Once Upon a Parable, this summer's Chancel Drama for children and youth in grades 3-12. Auditions are for speaking roles and solos. No prior experience is needed and all are invited to participate. Three dates are available:
  • Wednesday, May 16, 4:30 PM
  • Sunday, May 20, 11:30 AM
  • Wednesday, May 23, 4:30 PM

westminsterWestminster Recital: Bach, Damase
The 2017-2018 season of Westminster Conservatory at Nassau will conclude on Thursday, May 17, at 12:15 PM with a performance by Trio Brillante. The recital will take place in Niles Chapel and is open to the public at no charge.

The performers are Katherine McClure, flute; Melissa Bohl, oboe; and Phyllis Alpert Lehrer, piano. All are members of the Westminster Conservatory faculty. The program includes J.S. Bach's Sonata in E-flat (BWV 1031) for flute and continuo and the Trio for flute, oboe, and piano by Jean-Michel Damase.
