Co-location Update
Last week we we had a good planning meeting between our staff and the staff of Albion Elementary. We were able to flesh out some important details about our classroom spaces, school yard, and bathroom access.
During this meeting we discussed both the challenges and opportunities that come with co-locating. Their staff shared with us that due to our school being placed by the District at their location, their community had lost the opportunity to have a parent center and to expand to middle grades. They recognized that this was not our doing, and we expressed our intention to create a collaborative partnership with them to share resources with each other to benefit all the children.
We hope to collaborate on resources, like building a garden, adding activities to the playground, and holding assemblies all students can attend.
During our visit we were able to confirm that all our classrooms will be located together in the same building. Our art studios will also be housed together in a separate building. We have an extra space that we will turn into a Parent Center to share with the Albion Elementary community!!!
Finally we were able to negotiate separate playtimes and use of the yard. There will be a separate entrance to be used by our families. The two schools will use a shared calendar to schedule the use of shared spaces, like the auditorium and library. Please look out for more information about pick up and drop off times in out next monthly summer newsletter coming out in mid-July.
We are excited to have our incoming LFCSA families visit our new co-location and help us build a strong, collaborative connection with the Albion Elementary families. All public schools rely on enrollment numbers, as a courtesy to this school we have made an agreement to avoid doing outreach in their enrollment boundaries. Please be aware of this agreement when you are spreading the word about LFCSA.
Thank you for your partnership in this next phase for the expansion of the organization.
