Welcome our New Co-Principal

We are excited to welcome our new co-principal Kevin Kassebaum. Mr. Kassebaum will be working closely with Dr. Lee at both locations. We look forward to having him as part of the LFCSA Administrative team.

Kevin Kassebaum  is interested in ensuring that all students have access to a high-quality education regardless of their background.  Kevin's experience is in both urban, rural and suburban school systems.  He has worked in four states and served as a middle school teacher, a middle school
assistant principal as well as a K-8 assistant principal and K-8 Charter School Director. Raised in the rolling hills of Sonoma County, Kevin holds a B.A. in History from Sonoma State University and an M.S. in School Administration from Pepperdine University.  Kevin has also worked for the State of Rhode Island Department of Education as an Educator Specialist in the Office of Educator Quality and Certification.   Upon walking into the main building at LFCSA, Kevin was immediately inspired and is looking forward to being a contributing member of the school community.

Classroom Donations:
Your teacher may also send home a short list of personal classroom needs during the first week of school.

Snack supplies:
We suggest all students have a lunch/snack sack and water bottle. Please make sure all items sent to school include a label with your child's name, teacher's name and grade.

Co-location Update

Last week we we had a good planning meeting between our staff and the staff of Albion Elementary. We were able to flesh out some important details about our classroom spaces, school yard, and bathroom access.

During this meeting we discussed both the challenges and opportunities that come with co-locating. Their staff shared with us that due to our school being placed by the District at their location, their community had lost the opportunity to have a parent center and to expand to middle grades. They recognized that this was not our doing, and we expressed our intention to create a collaborative partnership with them to share resources with each other to benefit all the children.  We hope to collaborate on resources, like building a garden, adding activities to the playground, and holding assemblies all students can attend.

During our visit we were able to confirm that all our classrooms will be located together in the same building. Our art studios will also be housed together in a separate building. We have an extra space that we will turn into a Parent Center to share with the Albion Elementary community!!!

Finally we were able to negotiate separate playtimes and use of the yard. There will be a separate entrance to be used by our families.   The two schools will use a shared calendar to schedule the use of shared spaces, like the auditorium and library. Please look out for more information about pick up and drop off times in out next monthly summer newsletter coming out in mid-July.

We are excited to have our incoming LFCSA families visit our new co-location and help us build a strong, collaborative connection with the Albion Elementary families. All public schools rely on enrollment numbers, as a courtesy to this school we have made an agreement to avoid doing outreach in their enrollment boundaries. Please be aware of this agreement when you are spreading the word about LFCSA.

Thank you for your partnership in this next phase for the expansion of the organization.
