PRESS RELEASE
A New Partnership Making Efforts to Get Drug Dealers off the Streets

LAFAYETTE, AL, July 2018— East Alabama Mental Health Prevention Services and the Chambers County Drug Task Force have joined together to put a stop to the opioid epidemic that has taken control over Chambers County.

The Chambers County Drug Task Force and Prevention Services have established a mission to reduce the opioid crisis that has been sweeping the county by bringing awareness to the public about prescription drug abuse and the damage it is doing to the communities. It is tearing families apart, leaving children without their parents, and taking the lives of the young and older generations.

The dangers and risks of prescription drug abuse are very real and can cause many problems such as trouble with the law, addiction, and even death from overdose or a drug-related accident. In an effort to create change the Chambers County Drug Task Force and East Alabama Mental Health Prevention Services now have a brand new prescription drugs collection site and have installed a Prescription Drug Take Back Box at the Chambers County Sheriff’s Department in Lafayette, Alabama. Residents can bring their expired prescription pills or medications that they are not using and place them in the box so that they can be disposed of safely and not get into the wrong hands.

East Alabama Mental in partnership with the Chambers County Drug Task Force announces a Ribbon Cutting for a new location for a Prescription Drug Take Back Box at the Chambers County Courthouse on July 12, 2018 at 10:00am central.

If you would like more information about the Drug Task Force and Prevention Services partnership on reducing the opioid crisis, please call Major Terry Wood, Chambers County Drug Task Force at (334) 864-4319, or email terry.wood@chamberscountyal.gov
