The air is thick with choking dust. The summer heat--well over 100 degrees--is searing. In the miserable conditions of India’s brick kilns, working horses, donkeys and mules are pushed to their physical limits day after day, hauling massive loads on their backs from dawn until dusk.
This punishing existence is the everyday reality for thousands of working animals throughout the developing world. Many of them work with life-threatening injuries and suffer from poor nutrition and dehydration. The future is grim for these animals, as their owners are also struggling to make a living in these brutal working conditions. Many owners simply don’t have the resources to care properly for their animals.
We believe that animal suffering is preventable, and that good animal welfare protects human livelihoods. Brooke USA is an organization that funds programs designed to improve the lives of working horses, donkeys and mules. On-the-ground animal welfare teams work in some of the most challenging areas of the world to help relieve immediate suffering and create lasting change.

Phenomenal Year For
Brooke USA's Sunset Polo
™
& White Party
Brooke USA's Sunset Polo™ & White Party raised over $350,000 for working equines and the people who depend on them in the world’s poorest communities. More than 1,000 people joined together for the signature event and exceeded funds raised from all previous years. The event recorded a landmark year, with nearly $70,000 raised of the total project goal of $150,000 to construct equine veterinary clinics in Ethiopia, home to the third largest population of equines in the world. The elegant and well-attended fundraiser was held at the Wanderers Club on Friday, March 22.

Brooke USA Finds Second Home at EquiSafe International Headquarters in Wellington, FL
Brooke USA recently announced the opening of its new office at 3280 Fairlane Farms Road in Wellington, FL. In addition, Brooke USA moved into a new office at 2333 Alexandria Drive in Lexington, KY. These new locations will accommodate the nonprofit’s rapid growth, demonstrating its commitment to expand work in Florida while staying true to its roots in Kentucky.
“This is an exciting time for Brooke USA and marks a huge milestone for our organization, our friends and supporters, and employees who will all benefit from the opportunities this expansion presents,” said Brooke USA’s Executive Director Emily Dulin. “Brooke USA’s office in Florida allows us to further develop relationships in Wellington and Ocala. We are so grateful to our friends at EquiSafe for signing a two-year lease offering us free rent while including all the wonderful services of sub-leasing in this spacious and attractive building,” she added.
Brooke USA has quadrupled its donation income since starting to fundraise in the US in 2016 and as it looks to continue that expansion into 2020 and beyond, Brooke USA now has two suitable locations that can support that growth.

Lakeside Brunch in Orange
Thank you to our amazing volunteers in Tryon, North Carolina. As part of our Paint America Orange program, these wonderful ladies: Cindy Boyle, Bernadette Cogdell and Sally Frick planned, organized and volunteered on Sunday, April 7 to put on a delightful Lakeside Brunch in Orange during The Fork at the Tryon International Equestrian Center. The event featured a brunch buffet highlighting locally raised and grown foods from Lucky Clays Fresh, mimosas and a cash bar.
Mary Alice Monroe, NY Times Best-Selling author was on hand for a meet-and-greet and a portion of pre-orders for her new book,
The Summer Guests, benefited Brooke USA.
Competitor and author Tik Maynard was also on site to sign his new book,
In the Middle are the Horsemen, which a portion of book sales benefited Brooke USA.

At the beginning of March, our Board of Directors traveled to Wellington, Florida for the opportunity to put your suggestions and strategies to good use!

Clinky Mania Live 2019 - A China Only Model Horse All Halter Live Show - May 18, 2019 in Georgetown, IN (11 miles north of Louisville, Kentucky).
The show will feature three divisions including Original Finish China Open Production Division, Original Finish China Limited Production Division, and Custom Glazed China Division.
Proceeds from show will benefit Brooke USA.
