Nurturing Faith Ideas are weekly suggestions and activities from the Presbytery's Nurture Committee to link worship and home and to nurture faith development in the family. They are intended for all ages and family types. Add one to your bulletin each week or put them in your monthly newsletter. They could also be sent via email or added to a Facebook page. July 1
Mark 5:21-43 invites us to see the incredible journey (requiring both determination and hope) that happens as Jesus crosses the other side of the lake, meets Jairus, whose daughter was ill, and the woman who has suffered from a blood hemorrhage for 12 years. Caring for one person doesn't prevent Jesus from being present to the other. Our passage invites us to see in these strangers God's care for each of them. Jesus didn't have to recognize this woman, and he certainly didn't need to be present with one of the synagogue leaders, who we know as a collective group have been very critical of him. And yet, God cares for all of them. God cares for all of us. Consider who you are in the story. Are you Jairus? Are you Jairus' little girl? Are you the unnamed and yet healed woman? Thank God for God's presence of healing in your life.
July 8
Psalm 48:12 reads, "Walk about Zion, go all around it, count its towers, consider well its ramparts; go through its citadels, that you may tell the next generation that this is God, our God forever and ever. The Lord will be our guide forever." This week, think about the way in which God offers you refuge and guidance. Using the words from this psalm, take a prayer walk around your community. If you cannot walk far, you can take a prayer walk in your backyard or imagine yourself taking a walk in the comfort of your living room chair. As you walk, notice what you see. What are memories from these places? Where do you see God's presence in these places? Thank God for this presence and pray for all those who will pass by or be in these places, that they too will experience God's care and guidance.

I'm sure there would be lots of ways to summarize the 223rd General Assembly. I was thinking of doing a Top 10 list. Instead I've decided to lift up one or two highlights from each of the major GA committees. I'll go through them in numerical order, starting with Committee 03. Committee 02, Bills and Overtures, is a major GA committee, but their work is more procedural, trying to make sure that everything keeps going and everything fits in, so they really don't have any highlights. For some reason, there's no committee 01.

Calendar order update
The presbytery office spoke to the
PC(USA) Store this week regarding delivery of the planning calendars. They are supposed to arrive at the PC(USA) warehouse in Louisville next week, and they plan to ship orders on July 9. Hopefully, we will receive them here at the office early in the week of July 16, after which we will let you know when they are available for you to pick up your orders.
