Holy Week & Easter Sunday
The Pastor's Notes
from the desk of Walter Cantwell

Sunday was a special day in the life of Belin Memorial. In The Sanctuary, 26 confirmands declared their faith in Jesus Christ. Meanwhile in The Harbor, there was a baptism where God declared that the child was one of his own. It was a morning of new beginnings in worship.

Easter is the ultimate story of new beginnings. There are several additional opportunities to worship and come together as a community in order to discover God's new beginning for you.

All children are invited to the Easter Egg Hunt this Saturday in the Family Life Center from 10 AM to noon. Be sure to bring your friends and neighbors for a morning filled with games, refreshments, pictures with the Easter Bunny, egg hunts, and a moment to hear the true story of Easter.

On Sunday morning at all four worship services, our church will celebrate Christ's triumphant entry into Jerusalem on Holy Week. All children and youth are invited to participate on Palm Sunday in helping us to celebrate by processing in and waving the palm branches.

Wednesday is our final midweek Lenten Worship Service. Take this moment on Holy Week to pause and to reflect on the places in your life and in our world that are preventing us from moving forward into God's new life. Lunch is provided after the 30-minute worship service.

Maundy Thursday is the day when we celebrate the Last Supper and remember the servanthood of Jesus. The church will gather in The Sanctuary at 7 PM for a worship service that includes Holy Communion.

The darkest day of the year is Good Friday, the day when the powers and principalities sought to extinguish the light of God and prevent any new beginnings. This year there will be a special worship service in The Sanctuary at 7 PM that emphasizes the experience of the Disciples on the Friday when our Lord was crucified. Also, stop by the FLC for lunch or dinner to enjoy a tasty Fish Fry provided by the Missions Team, which benefits the upcoming mission to Guatemala.

Join us on Easter morning at 6:30 AM for our Sunrise Service at the Waterfront Cross Garden. Bring a chair or blanket and come prepared to celebrate the wonder of resurrection as the sun rises over the inlet. Our Senior Minister, Mike Alexander, will be preaching. Jim Sellers and Scott Lewis will be leading us in a blended worship service.

Easter at Belin Memorial is a meaningful and memorable time. I hope you can worship with us either in The Sanctuary or The Harbor on the day of resurrection.

The life, death, and resurrection of Jesus point to the reality that nothing, not even death, can stop God from creating a new beginning for all of humanity. Be on the lookout for new beginnings in your life this Holy Week and Easter.

Blessings,

Free Admission. Rain or Shine!
Blessing Ceremony at 11:30 AM

The Blessing of the Inlet (BOI) was started 23 years ago to create a festival filled with worship, food, fun, family and fellowship highlighted by a 'Blessing' ceremony, celebrating our Lord's continued blessings in the Inlet Community. The Blessing of the Inlet was begun to generate funds for missions, charities, and nonprofit organizations. We hope you will attend this year and be blessed. Want to volunteer or help? Look for the blue cards in worship or visit  www.blessingoftheinlet.com.

Setup Sunday - April 28, 12:15 PM.

Volunteers are needed on April 28 at 12:15 PM to setup the booths for the Blessing. Great News! Booth roofs have been rebuilt with lighter materials and they are much easier to maneuver. Volunteers should dress causally, bring gloves, wear closed toe shoes and bring, if you have, 9/16" battery powered ratchet tool (suited for construction type work), screws are Phillip's head. Large trailers (over 12ft length) to carry booth panels are also needed. If you have a trailer you can bring or if you have one we can use, we need to hear from you. Trucks are also needed to haul trailers with 2 1/8 or 2 ΒΌ ball. For more information, please contact Bill Keesee, 843.458.9165.

Book Nook

Book Nook committee (sponsored by the Belin Gardeners) is now collecting books (new and gently used) for the Book Nook at the Blessing of the Inlet. Please bring book donations to the collection bin in the Family Life Center lobby. There is also a need for small, plastic grocery bags. These can be dropped off with the books. For more information, please contact Jennie Holloway.

BOI T-Shirts

T-shirts will be available for purchase after worship this Sunday, April 7 in the Family Life Center lobby. Local sales locations include Lee's Inlet Apothecary, The Lazy Gator, Lee's Inlet Kitchen and MISC.

The cost is $12 for short sleeve or $22 for long sleeve t-shirts. Cash or checks are accepted (made payable to Belin UMC Youth Ministry). Sizes range from Youth Extra Small to Adult 4XL. This makes a great gift to put in those Easter baskets and is a great way to support our Belin Youth Ministry. Please note youth and adults volunteering at the Blessing of the Inlet are asked to wear a BOI t-shirt.
