Client Relationships: Keeping it Fresh
By Danielle Dickinson, Senior Event Director

Make new friends but keep the old: one is silver, the other is gold. This adage from my Girl Scout years has proven to be valuable advice in both my personal life and career as a corporate event producer. Here at Castle, we're lucky to have customers that we've developed long standing relationships with, and they're an ongoing source of pride. But even though they have been with us for a long time, it's important to keep the bar high and still find ways to exceed expectations. Here are seven strategies to help keep your client relationships fresh.
  1. Treat Old Like New. Bring the same enthusiasm, effort and excitement (to every call and meeting) that you did when you were pitching the business.
  2. Give a Little More. Keeping a relationship fresh is entirely about giving: attention, service, respect, trust, ideas and understanding. You have spent a lot of time getting this relationship off the ground-don't lose your momentum. Put in extra effort and give a little more.

We also partnered with the Massachusetts High Technology Council, the state's oldest association of technology, professional services, and higher education CEOs and senior executives, on its annual conference.

Up next? Summer events, including a global sales conference in Orlando, a technology summit in Oahu, and Wentworth Institute of Technology's  August commencement ceremony in Boston.

Castle Outside of the Office
June has always been a busy time of year for civic and community events, and this year we're proud to have supported two important initiatives focused on women's leadership:
  • The Commonwealth Institute's inaugural Women's Leadership Development Impact Study, which measured what 2,500 Massachusetts businesses are doing to create a pathway for women leaders, revealed that while 57 percent of companies have goals addressing women's leadership roles, the vast majority of resources are directed to programs meant to develop women leaders, but not to retain and advance them. The key findings of the study were featured in the Boston Business Journal.
  • "Changing the Power Dynamic: Power Inequity and Gender Bias in the Workplace," an event that was organized by Tomorrow's Women TODAY and The Boston Women's Leadership Council. The event featured an inspiring group of speakers, including former Mass. Lt. Governor Evelyn Murphy, Boston City Councilor At-Large Michelle Wu and Eos Foundation President Andrea Silbert.
VP Philip Hauserman is lending his crisis communications expertise to the upcoming annual meeting of the Florida Independent College and Risk Management Association in West Palm Beach.

Sandy Lish and VP Carole McFall spoke at the Association of Independent Colleges and Universities in Massachusetts Spring Symposium on best practices in managing transparency in communications
