ELECTRIC UTILITY TEAM RECEIVES SAFETY AWARD
The City of Boerne Utilities' Electric Department received the American Public Power Association's Safety Award of Excellence for their safe operating practices in 2017.

The Electric Team works hard every day to "keep the lights on," and we are proud of their superior safety record!
ELECTION DAY - THIS SATURDAY
This Saturday, May 5 is Election Day in Boerne! Residents of District 5 can vote at the Patrick Heath Public Library from 7 am - 7 pm for their City Councilmember. If you are unsure of which district you reside in, be sure to take a look at the Boerne City Council Districts Map .

The Primary Runoff Election is a separate election. Early voting will begin on begin on May 14, and Election Day is May 22.

If you live in District 5, please make your voice heard and go vote this Saturday!
CITY HALL GROUNDBREAKING
Join us on Thursday, May 10 at Boerne City Campus (in front of Patrick Heath Public Library) for the groundbreaking of Boerne's new City Hall! The new City Hall facility will house over 10 City departments, including Utilities and Customer Service. You can visit the City Hall Updates page on our website for more info on the building.

Did you put brush out for bulky item pick-up that didn't get picked up? Brush is not included in bulky item pick-up, however City of Boerne Utilities customers can schedule one free brush pick-up per address, per calendar year! Additional pick-ups are only $25 each.

MAIN STREET ROAD CLOSURES
Texas Department of Transportation repairs and resurfacing continue on Main Street this month! The majority of road closures will continue to be at night, from 8:30 pm - 5:30 am. The repairs will run the entire length of Main St., beginning at IH-10 North and ending at IH-10 South.

Alternate lane closures during the day may continue from 9:00 am - 3:30 pm for drainage improvements at the Main St./River Rd. bridge and other repairs along Main St.

Please use caution while TxDOT crews are working. You can follow along with the progress of this project and other TxDOT construction by using their project tracker, linked below.
MAYOR'S CORNER
May is a busy month in Boerne! Check out the Mayor's monthly column for May, which offers a wealth of info on many of the happenings in the City of Boerne this month.

Beautiful quilts will once again adorn Main Plaza, specialty shops, and gardens located on Boerne’s historic Main Street during the Annual Boerne Hauptstrasse Quiltfest, this Saturday from 9 am - 4 pm.

This non-competitive outdoor quilt display will be a beautiful sight to see while enjoying the Hill Country Mile!
Boerne Volunteer Fire Department's Annual Fish Fry is this Saturday, May 5, beginning at 4 pm! Fried fish plates will be served by donation, and there will be a to-go line on Frederick St. with plates to take home for $10 each.

In addition to fried fish, there will be a live auction, bucket raffle, live band, bounce house for kids, and more. Come out and enjoy a fun evening and get a tasty meal while supporting our first responders!

MEMORIAL DAY CLOSURE
In observance of Memorial Day, City of Boerne offices will be closed on Monday, May 28. Garbage and recycling pick-ups will stay on the normal schedule.

PREVENT MOSQUITOES FROM MULTIPLYING
Summer is on its way, and that means more mosquitoes will start buzzing around Boerne. Taking a few easy steps can protect you and your family from itchy bites.

  • Eliminate standing water in rain gutters, buckets, plastic covers, toys, or any other container where mosquitoes can breed
  • Empty and change water in bird baths, fountains, potted plant trays, etc. at least once a week to destroy potential mosquito habitats
  • Keep swimming pool water treated and circulating
