The remarkable Designer Camp returns to South Coast Collection this summer and will be held at the Center. It is a week of inspiration and learning how to design, brand, and promote. 

DATE: July 16 - 20
TIME: 9am - 3pm
AGES: 11 - 17

CAMP DESCRIPTION: Designer Camp 101 explores the vast careers in the design industry by implementing the principles and elements of design.  Students will explore the design world covering Art, Beauty, Branding, Fashion, Interior Design, Merchandising, Photography, Styling, Trend Forecasting and much more.

Throughout the week, students will work in teams on a culminating design project that will be presented to parents and the local design community.

FINAL PRESENTATION DAY: Friday, July 20th at 1 pm (parents encouraged to attend)

Drop In & Draw!
New Free Monthly Program 
Begins July 21, 2018
 
Still Free! Now Every Third Saturday of the Month beginning July 21st!

The Chuck Jones Center for Creativity presents a free program, Drop In & Draw! Held every third Saturday of the month from 10 AM to noon at the Center in South Coast Collection (SoCo). Each month a cartoon character from the fertile imagination of our namesake, Chuck Jones, one of the father's of Bugs Bunny and the Road Runner, will be our theme. Good for ages 5 + with four activity stations that feature coloring sheets for the little ones, model sheets on light tables, step-by-step instruction on how to draw the character, and a construction project. 

July will feature Bugs Bunny, followed by (in order): Daffy Duck (August), Marvin Martian (September), White Seal (October), Wile E. Coyote and Road Runner (November), and the Grinch (December). One of our teaching artists will be on hand at each Drop In & Draw along with our knowledgeable and creative volunteers.

Exercise Your Genius!
Animation Camp
Monday-Friday, August 6-10, 2018
9 to 1 PM
 

Campers will take a creative journey from pre-production into filming to create unique
characters brought to life through storytelling and stop motion animation.
Class at the Center will include:
  • Character Development: Learn shape building drawing technique.
  • Storyboarding: conceptualize and draw 12 panel story arc.
  • Set development: Mechanically articulate characters and paint background.
  • Filming: Shoot sequential footage.
  • Filming and upload: Finish with sound and titling.
Details:
Classes are from 9am to 1pm, August 6th - 10th. 
Children ages 9-15. No experience necessary.
Pre-registration: $180
Opening day drop-in registration (as space allows): $200
All materials are provided by the Chuck Jones Center for Creativity.

Junior Maker 
Summer Camp
Monday-Friday, August 13-17 from 9 to 1 PM
 

This fun, project based summer camp is designed for young makers wanting to learn how to bring their ideas to life. We will introduce campers to drawing techniques and tools that will enhance the 3D visual articulation of their ideas.
Classes at the Center will include:
  • Shape Building: Combine shapes to create complex objects.
  • One Point Linear Perspective: Give drawings the illusion of being 3D.
  • Scale and Proportion: Enlarge drawings using the grid method.
  • Plotting with a Protractor: Use math for creative design.
  • Simple Machines: Create a chain reaction.
  • Conversion: Turn a 2D drawing into a 3D object.
Details:
Classes are from 9am to 1pm, August 13th - 17th.  
Children ages 9-15. No experience necessary.
Pre-registration: $180
Opening day drop-in registration (as space allows): $200
