- May 18th- Middle School Book Swap from 7:30-8:30am in Student Services- Parents can buy, sell, and order books
- May 23rd- 5th grade parents, 7:45-9:00am in Japonica Library

Good News from the Development Office
We exceeded our 2017-18 Mother Oak Annual Fund goal of $100,000. Once all pledges are fulfilled the total will be $108,665 from 43% of our parents. This fund supplements the schools general operating budget. As a result, every student and faculty member benefits from the success of this campaign.
The Game Changer Campaign continues and to date has raised $281,621 in gifts and pledges. That has provided the funds for updating the Japonica Gym. The roof, interior and exterior walls are complete and as soon as school is out, we will begin work on the floor. On the University Campus, field lights were purchased and installed which allowed soccer to be played at night this past season.
We are more than halfway to the goal of $515,000 which will complete both campus projects. We still need goals, fencing, bleachers and a pressbox to play football at home. And new bleachers are needed for the Japonica gymnasium. We will launch another appeal for the next phase of the project very soon. In the meantime, we are trying to secure committments for matching funds. If you are interested in doubling the impact of your gift, no matter what size, please contact the Diane in the Development Office for details.

- Macayla Owens - 22nd in Javelin with 58ft 2in throw
- Kaelyn Horn - 2nd in 800 with personal best of 2:32.80, 2nd in 1600 with 5:44.12, 2nd in 3200 with a personal best of 12:30.03
- Tristan Johnson - 11th in the 1600 with a 6:10.61
- Kennedy Johnson - 2nd in 400 with 1:01.06 which was .35 seconds behind first place, 8th in 200
- Abigail Lowry - 22nd in Long Jump with 11ft 11.5in jump
- Molly Frezell - 21st in Long Jump with 12ft 3.25in jump
- Natalie Bonner - 9th in 100 with 13.14 which was .07 seconds from making finals, 11th in 200 with 27.80
- Bailey Sheffield - 12th in 800 with personal best through 2:46.46
4x100 relay team - Kennedy Johnson, Natalie Bonner, Abigail Lowry, Asia Thompson - 6th place finish with personal best of 53.81
4x400 relay team - Natalie Bonner, Elizabeth Roebuck, Asia Thompson, Kaelyn Horn - 2nd place finish with personal best of 4:26.56

Student Spotlight
Trace
Martin
is a 3rd Degree Black Belt, Instructor, and student for ATA Tae Kwon Do. He is a Level 1 Judge, and teaches private lessons for XMA (extreme martial arts) and Creative TKD.
Trace has been declared the State Champion in EIGHT different events, for 13-14 year olds who have a 3rd degree black belt.

BioMed Senior Capstone Presentations
Earlier this month the senior Biomedical Health Science students gave presentations based on their chosen field of interest. These amazing young people spoke in front of more than 275 of their peers, family members and medical professionals. Many of them plan to pursue a degree in the area they chose to study this year.

Alumni Spotlight
Austin S. Davis of St. Luke's Episcopal School Class of 2014 has successfully completed four years of challenging academic, physical, and professional military training and will be graduating from the United States Naval Academy, Annapolis, Maryland on
May 25, with a Bachelor of Science degree with a Major in Political Science and a Minor in Russian. Austin will commission as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps.
Austin will report to TBS (The Basic School) in Quantico, Virginia this summer where all newly commissioned United States Marine Corps officers are sent to learn the art and science of being an Officer of Marines. TBS currently lasts 26 weeks. During those 26 weeks, the new officers are given extensive classroom, field, and practical application training on subjects ranging from weapons and tactics to leadership and protocol. Upon graduation from TBS Austin will report to Pensacola Naval Air Station in Pensacola, Florida where he will begin training to become a US Marine Corps pilot.
